Cheers (WT196)

The Ways To Use It Challenge was called "Half Baked". We had to use half of an image or embellishment. My half baked idea was to cut the orange slice from Tart & Tangy in half and I used it as a garnish for a tasty tropical drink. The base card is Pixie Pink with an embossed layer of Baja Breeze. The main image was stamped on copy paper, enlarged 200%, and then copied to white card stock. Then, the piece was cut into a rectangle using the Big Shot with Nestabilities. Cuppy Cakes (SC206)

The layout for the sketch is shown at the right. I widened panel #3 to accommodate larger circles. I also widened panel #2 because I wanted to emboss it and punch the edges. I also did not overlay my main panel very much because I wanted the embossing on panel #2 to show.

The base card is Pretty In Pink with a Whisper White layer that has been embossed with the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder. I added Real Red grosgrain ribbon before adhering the white panel. The pink panel is embossed with the Frills Border folder and punched with the Scallop Edge Border Punch. The cupcake "papers" were colored with markers and the "frosting" was done with Liquid Applique. This is a gift card holder as well. I showed the inside of a baby card gift card holder here. Christmas Cardinal (CC196)

I was not that crazy about today's Color Challenge to use Baja Breeze, Taken With Teal, Riding Hood Red, and Whisper White. This is what I came up with, though. If you stand back and look at it from a distance, it doesn't look so bad. I used Taken With Teal for the base card and added a layer of Baja Breeze that I embossed. I die cut the "Top Note" twice; once with Whisper White and once with Riding Hood Red. I trimmed the white one at the stitching marks. I stamped the cardinal with Stazon Black and colored it with a blender pen. The leaves are Old Olive with the teal over that. I sponged the punched snowflake with Baja Breeze and added a rhinestone in the center. Thanks for stopping by today!!

Club Projects - December

Both clubs that I have left for December are going to do the same projects. First, the Tuesday Nighters will do them, and then the Ladies' Night Out Club will do them. Project #1 is a masculine birthday card. I was going to have them choose between #1 and #2, but, if we have time, they can do both. I used Whisper White Craft ink and embossed with Crystal Clear embossing powder before I had a chance to re-ink the white pad. I think I will have them emboss with white embossing powder over Versamark instead. I used a strip of Bella Rose designer paper with Chocolate Chip ribbon over it. The buckle was die cut on the Big Shot using a Sizzix Buckles die. This is a very simple card.

Using the same card stock as Project #1 and flipping over the DSP, Project #2 becomes a feminine birthday card. I used different ribbon and the sentiment panel is matted on pink and then a red scalloped circle. This is another very simple card!

Hoot, Hoot! (IC157)

Yesterday was all doctor appointments, errands and personal stuff. By the time I got done, I was too tired to get creative! Today's Inspiration Challenge was called "Images Under Glass", and we were to choose one of the pretty glass necklaces as our inspiration. The photo at right shows the one I chose. As soon as I saw it, I thought of the "Owl Together Now" stamp set.

I have no idea why the background looks pink in this photo, but it's actually white! Oh well, the card is the subject matter anyway. The base card is Basic Black with a layer of Green Galore that has been embossed with the "Forest Branches" embossing folder. The main image panel and mat were done with Nestabilities. The sentiment panel and mat were done with a circle punch and the Scallop Circle Punch. The branches were punched with the Martha Stewart Branches Punch. The main image was stamped with Basic Black Craft ink and embossed with black embossing powder; then, it was colored with the Basic Black Marker and white gel pen. Penquin Christmas (WT195)

This is my second card and envelope for today's Ways To Use It Challenge! I don't do that very often, but it's fun making these cool envelopes! This time, I used DCWV Christmas Stack designer paper. The sentiment on the card was cut out of the same paper. That penguin is a $1 stamp from Michael's. The snowflakes are done with the Martha Stewart Snowflake Punch. Enveloped Birthday (WT195)

First of all, I did yesterday's Sketch Challenge, but I didn't like the card that much so I didn't post it here. I did send it out though. It was a Thank You card. I just didn't like the colors and papers - too busy. Anyway, on to today's Ways To Use It Challenge. We were to use envelopes. It could be a mini envelope on a card or a coordinating envelope, etc. I chose to use my Five-In-One Card Cover Template to make my own envelope. I've never used that template before and I'm sure glad I did! I'll be using it more often now! The "Sweet Always" designer paper has pink and orange, so I used the pink to make the card. This card measures 6" X 3-3/4" to fit into the 6-1/2" X 4" envelope. I embossed the Boho Blossoms flowers and added pink brads in the centers. Thursday Nighters December Projects

The first project for Club on Thursday night will be using the "Cracked Glass" technique. It's best if you use a stamp that kind of has a vintage look because you're going to age it even more. I stamped the locomotive on Naturals Ivory with Basic Black. Next, I covered the whole piece with Versamark. I applied Glassy Glaze embossing powder liberally and heat embossed. This process was done twice to get a really thick glaze. I put the piece in the freezer for a few minutes, took it out, cracked it in several places, sponged black ink in the cracks, and finally, wiped it off with a Kleenex. This piece was matted on black. The Naturals Ivory base card was stamped with Itty Bitty Backgrounds and sponged around all the edges. The matted cracked glass piece was adhered to the center and three silver brads were added at the lower right.

Project #2 will be three 3" X 3" Christmas gift cards using punch art. I CASEd this from the Demonstrator Web Site at Stampin' Up! There was one more punch art design which was a Santa face, but I thought three of these and the "Cracked Glass" technique would be enough for one night! Here are the punches I used:

• Penguin: Basic Black - 1" Circle, 1-3/8" Circle, Small Ovals (wings); White - Large Oval, 1/8" Circle (cheeks), 3" long strip of scraps, torn for snow; Orange - Boho Blossoms (beak and feet); Add white gel pen eyes and DSP scarf; use Almost Amethyst or Bashful Blue for base card (3" X 6")
• Snowman: Basic Black - 1-1/4" Square, Word Window, 1/8" Circle (X 7); White - 1-3/8" Circle; Kiwi Kiss - Boho Blossoms (holly); Real Red - 1/8" Circle (berries) and base card; Orange - Large star
• Reindeer: Close to Cocoa - Wide Oval (sponge face), 3/4" Circle; Chocolate Chip - Boho Blossoms (hair), Five Petal (ears); Real Red - 1/2" Circle (nose); White - 1/4" Circle (X 2); Black - 1/8" Circle (X 2) NOTE: To make antlers, use wide oval and punch; punch again slightly above original punch out. Do the same with the 3/4" Circle Punch, twice. Assemble as shown. Use Sage Shadow for base card.

Masculine Card (CC195)

Today's Color Challenge was to use Basic Black, Very Vanilla, and Sahara Sand. I thought that color combination seemed masculine, so I tied to use images that seemed masculine, yet the embellishments bring a bit of femininity to it. This is a big 5-3/8" square card. It fits into Stampin' Up!'s Medium Square envelopes. The base card is Sahara Sand and the stamped panels are Very Vanilla matted on Basic Black. The vanilla panels are all sponged with Sahara Sand. I added the punched branches behind the sentiment panel and did some paper piercing in two corners to finish it off. Thanks for visiting my blog today!!!

CASEing Dawn (FS95)

Today's Featured Stamper was Dawn (aka flowergal36). We've been in each other's galleries quite a bit commenting on our challenge cards. I love her work; she is so talented!! I chose to CASE the card shown at left, but I really didn't want to change a thing! However, rules are rules, and we have to change at least two things for a Featured Stamper Challenge.

I changed the colors from blue to pink, the stamp sets from "One of a Kind" to "Eastern Blooms" and "Upsy Daisy" (for the sentiment), and I changed the ribbon from the striped grosgrain to Pretty In Pink Taffeta. She did the Emboss Resist technique, so I did too. There's a bit of a glare from the Glossy White card stock; sorry about that. Should I fire the photographer? LOL! Simple Thank You (ssnotime63)

Sharon's (notimetostamp) weekly Simply Stamping Challenge was to "Give Thanks". This is really the simplest card I've ever made! There's no stamping here, though. The base card is Regal Rose with a white embossed layer and 5/8" Regal Rose grosgrain ribbon and knot. I colored the "Thank You" with the Regal Rose marker and then added a layer of glue with the 2-Way Glue Pen, and finally I added Dazzling Diamonds (glitter). Look Who's Turning 4 (LSC196)

This is for the Limited Supplies Challenge, and this really was a CHALLENGE for me!!! We had to use an animal stamp and could also use two more stamps for a total of three. We could use any three papers and any three inks as long as one of each was pink. We could only have three layers and could only use three embellishments. Using a gel pen or paper piercing counted as an embellishment. Patterned paper counted as a layer. We got bonus points if we used a number somewhere. There was no limit on tools. Now, here's what I did: I used a House Mouse image and a sentiment stamp (that's only two stamps); I used Regal Rose, GP White, and "Sweet Always" designer paper for my three papers; I used Stazon Jet Black and Regal Rose Inks (that's only two colors); My three layers are the patterned paper, the rose scalloped piece, and the white main image panel; My three embellishments are the gel pen dots, the ribbon, and the punched sentiment panel. I counted the sentiment panel as one embellishment, so I kind of pushed it there! Thanks for stopping by!

Rosey Thanks (WT194)

I managed to find the time to do today's Ways To Use It Challenge which was called "Giving Thanks" in honor of Thanksgiving in the U.S.A. I made a "Thank You" card for a lady in my church who does so much for everyone. She's such a great organizer! The base card is Very Vanilla with the "Floral" background is stamped with Pretty In Pink. The Nestabilities ovals are vanilla and Regal Rose. The roses are stamped with Pretty In Pink and Regal Rose, and the leaves are stamped with Certainly Celery and Mellow Moss. Two-Step Stamping is easy with the Stamp-a-ma-jig! The embellishment on the ribbon is not a brad. I die cut a ribbon slider with the Sizzix "Buckles" Die, threaded the Celery ribbon through it, and adhered an Epoxy Sticker (with foam backing) that I got from the Dollar Store. Fall Card (CC194, WSC67)

The layout at the right shows Beate's sketch for her Weekend Sketch Challenge #67 for last weekend. I'm a few days late for this one, but I had it saved so that I could use it this week. I just didn't get around to it until now.

I combined her sketch challenge with Tuesday's Color Challenge which was to use Going Gray, Really Rust, and Very Vanilla. The base card is Really Rust, and the next layer is Very Vanilla that has been stamped with leaves from "Fall Flair" (Hostess set) and then embossed with the Cuttlebug "Autumn Type" folder. The tree was stamped with Going Gray, and the panel was distressed and sponged with rust and matted on Going Gray. The sentiment was stamped, distressed, sponged, and matted; then, it was popped up on Dimensionals. I added amber rhinestones for a final touch. Thanks for visiting my blog today!!!

Very Merry (SC204)

Here's the layout for today's Sketch Challenge. I'm on it now! I did this one on the day it's supposed to be done!!! LOL! I like this sketch and will probably use it again. I do think I need a new photographer (me!) because the white looks almost pink in this photo! I'm learning!!!

The base card is white, and I stamped the little snowflake from "Short & Sweet" (only on the right hand end) that goes with the "Very Merry" sentiment. The embossed layer is matted on Baja Breeze and so is the main image. The horizontal strip is "Ski Slope" designer paper. The snowflakes were punched with the Martha Stewart "Snowflake" Punch, and light blue rhinestones were added to the centers. For the main image, I inked the stamp with Versamark and then with Baja Breeze. Then, I heat embossed with Clear Embossing Powder. I did this twice and cut out one snowman which is popped up with Dimensionals. Thanks for stopping by today!!!

Ghost Town (SBSC166)

Well, at least I'm scrap booking! I have a ton of photos from our vacation last summer. Sally's sketches make it easy. Her layout is shown at the right. I moved the embellishment to the opposite side on both pages because I had a big blank spot there.

It was a hot afternoon, and we were thirsty, so we stopped in at the Calico Saloon in Knott's Berry Farm's Ghost Town. We were just in time for the show and got to sit right up front and in the center! For me, this was about the most fun thing at Knott's. I'm really not a fan of those scary roller coasters!!

We also got to witness a gun fight in the street. Two men were beating up a drunk, and then came the Marshall. They had a shoot out, and he won. He even shot the bad guy who was hiding in the windmill tower! It was a great show!

Train Ride & Part 2 (SBSC165)

The Scrap Booking Sketch Challenge from last week worked out so well with some of our vacation photos. The layout is shown at the right. I didn't use buttons. Instead, I stamped images from the "Wanted" set and used three punches to form the discs. Sorry about the glare on two pics; if it wasn't on one pic, it was on another! This page is 12" X 12".

I formed a pocket with the bottom photo and made a tag to hold the journaling. I matted all the photos on Basic Black. The designer papers are from My Mind's Eye. I think that pack was called "Wild Asparagus", but I'm not sure. I used two different Sizzix Alphabet Die Sets: "Skooshy" (which is only $30 right now at Sizzix.com!) and "Retro Metro". I used "Skooshy" for the lower case letters. I need to get busy and do some more pages of our vacation last summer.

For page 2, I adjusted the sketch a bit to fit my photos. All four photos are 4" X 5". I used a different alphabet set for the year, "Cattycorner". I put the vertical paper on the opposite side on this page, too. I also managed to get some glare on one of the photos in this photograph, but if it wasn't on one picture, it was on another!

So Glad (FS94)

I haven't posted since last Wednesday, YIKES!! That's because I haven't been able to stamp! I've been busy getting ready for my last Stamp Camp of the year. I even cooked! LOL! I made a Pumpkin Praline Dessert that turned out great and everyone at the Stamp Camp wanted the recipe. Well, Stamp Camp is over and I have some time to play. At left is Elizabeth's (aka ebethneu) card that I chose to CASE. I really liked the "Out of the box" technique she used on her birdie's trail. I tried to duplicate that with my butterfly trail.

I changed the colors which included card stock, designer paper, ribbon, and ink. I changed the main image panel from a circle to an oval and changed the stamp sets, too. I also added a bow and some sponging. I used the Coluzzle oval template for the main image panel and Nestabilities scallop oval for the mat. I used white gel pen dots instead of dew drops on the scallops. The "flowers" under the sentiment are Sizzlets Birds & Blooms Scallop Circles with gel pen dots. Thanks for stopping by today!!

Asian Influenced (SC203, CC193)

I wasn't able to get to yesterday's Color Challenge until now, but, again, I had to combine it with today's Sketch Challenge. I got busy cutting card stock for last night's club, I had to go to physical therapy, and then I had to go pick up my son's prescriptions and exchange a toy I had bought for a Christmas present. There just wasn't any time left! The layout for the sketch is shown at right.

As you can see, the colors for the Color Challenge were Basic Black, Real Red, and Kraft. I used Architectural Accent #2 Sizzlet for the die cut piece in the lower left of the main image panel. The tiny squares in three of the corners were popped out of the die cut piece. I embossed the cherry blossoms from "Eastern Influences" with Gold Embossing Powder and used the Asian writing for "Beautiful" in the upper right corner. Thanks for visiting today!!!

Merry Christmas Part 3 Stamp Camp

The final Christmas Stamp Camp is coming up this weekend! Everyone will make two cards of each design, and if you've been to the previous two Christmas Stamp Camps, you will have a total of 30 homemade cards! I tried to make the cards for this one as simple as possible, but you know I'm not that good at that!! LOL! Project #1 is white on white with gold embossing. I think it looks so elegant. I hope you can see the rhinestone in the lower right of the tree. Along with the shiny gold embossing, I just had to add some bling!

Project #2 is another embossing project. This one is with white embossing powder. The flower is stamped and cut out. Gold glitter glue was added to the flower center. The scripture (which is on the same stamp as "Christ is Born") was stamped on a narrow strip of white, trimmed using the Large Oval Punch, and matted on Real Red. There's a sentiment inside from the same set and it's also stamped in red.

Project #3 is the final stamp from the Holy Triptych set. The frame is embossed with gold embossing powder and then the Jesus, Mary, and Joseph image is stamped inside the frame and embossed as well. The frame is trimmed and then matted on Brushed Gold card stock. The panel is adhered to the Elegant Eggplant card with Dimensionals.

Project #4 is done with a set we used in Part 1 of the Merry Christmas Stamp Camps. The base card is Baja Breeze with a layer of white that is embossed with the Cuttlebug Snow Dots folder. The main image is stamped with Stazon Jet Black, colored using markers and Blender Pen, and matted on Baja Breeze. Both layers are punched with the Ticket Corner Punch. The snowflake is punched with the Martha Stewart Snowflake punch and adhered to a 1-1/4" punched circle.

Purr-fect! (WT192, LSC194)

I've been busy getting ready for tonight's club so I didn't have time to do yesterday's Ways To Use It Challenge until today, but I combined it with today's Limited Supplies Challenge. Yesterday's challenge was to use Water Color Paper, and today's challenge was to use acrylic stamps. I was surprised that there were no other restrictions! That's cool! I used oval Nestabilities on the water color paper and scalloped oval Nestabilities for the mat. I received some acrylic stamps in a Challenge Chasers swap a few months ago and almost forgot I had them. I stamped the cat image on the water color paper oval with Basic Black ink and water colored the pillow and the cat's eyes with Water Color Wonder Crayons and my Aqua Painter. I already had embossed a Pixie Pink panel with the Cuttlebug Spots n' Dots folder, so that determined my color combo! I added Fine Cosmo Glitter to the cat's collar and a heart-shaped brad over the heart-shaped locket that was stamped. I use the Small Oval Punch on the ends of the sentiment panel before matting it on Basic Black. Thanks for visiting today!!!

Ladies' Night Out November Projects

Project #1 is made with the Sock Monkey set and Sock Monkey Accessories set. I couldn't wait to get the accessories so I could use that Santa Hat! I put Liquid Applique on the white parts of the hat. That stuff is fun to use; I need to get some more! I left the Glorious Green base card plain with the thought that my ladies might want to use some designer paper inside and create a gift card. The sock monkey and hat were water colored, and the scalloped mat was made with scalloped squares Nestabilities.

I got a bit whimsical with the photography by putting the card in a real sock monkey's arms! I just thought it was kind of cute. I just got that sock monkey, and he's MINE!!! LOL! No, the kids or grandkids won't get it. Not right away, at least!

Project #2 will be a Christmas Waterfall Card. There will be one change, though. The horizontal strip will be red instead of white and will have white brads instead of red. These cards are fun to make, but I don't have any luck using eyelets to hold down that horizontal strip, so I use adhesive and brads.

The photo at right shows how the card looks when you start pulling the ribbon at the bottom. From the Deer Friends Hostess Set, I used the Santa, Christmas tree, snowman, and baby Jesus, stamping them in Red, Green, Turquoise, and Lilac respectively. Thanks for visiting my blog today!

The layout shown at the right shows today's Sketch Challenge. I didn't have time to do yesterday's Color Challenge, so I combined the two challenges. The colors were Basic Gray, Pacific Point, and Certainly Celery.

The base card is Basic Gray with a layer of Certainly Celery Prints designer paper (retired) which is matted on Pacific Point. Both layers are Ticket Corner punched. The daisies on the little squares have centers that were colored in with Pacific Point ink and the Blender Pen. I used all three colors and the Priceless set to stamp the main image panel. This would have been an SUO (Stampin' Up! Only) card if I hadn't added the Martha Stewart Punched dove! Doh! Thanks for stopping by today!

Joy Fold Card

Well, I visited Sharon's (notimetostamp) blog and she did such a pretty "Joy Fold" card. Her card went with a cute "Bare Necessities" Box. For the card, she linked to Beate's tutorial which is where I found out how to make this card! All the dimensions and other instructions are in the tutorial. I just added the embossed flowers and just cut out the leaves free-handed. The inside sentiment says, "Thank you for blessing my life in such a wonderful way!" Thank YOU for visiting my blog!!!

Well, I've been away all weekend, so I haven't posted anything since Thursday. I checked out the Technique Lover's Challenge, and it's a triangle box. I might make that later. I went over to Beate's blog and found the Weekend Sketch Challenge (shown at right) and decided to do that.

The base card is GP White and is embossed with one of the Cuttlebug Borders Embossing Folders and scored above that. The designer paper was die cut on the Big Shot with the Scallop Circle Die (available from the Holiday Mini Catalog). I used rectangle and scalloped rectangle Nestabilities on the main image panel and scalloped mat. I stamped the sentiment and punched it out with the 1-1/4" Circle Punch. I matted that on Brushed Silver punched with the 1-3/8" Circle Punch. Finally, I punched GP White with the Scallop Circle Punch for the final mat. Thanks for visiting my blog today!

First of all, the photo at left shows the layout for yesterday's Sketch Challenge. I had a busy day yesterday and just didn't get around to it, so I thought I'd combine challenges and use the sketch with today's Ways To Use It Challenge which was to use our corner punches.

I like the sketch but somehow I managed to get 8 layers on top of that base card! I think I do that with every masculine card I make! I wonder why. Anyway, the base card is Naturals White with a layer of white on a black mat. Then, there's Soft Sky on a black mat. This panel is paper pierced. Next, there's River Rock on a black mat with the sentiment stamped in black ink. The main image was stamped with black on white and matted on black after punching with the Stair Step Corner Punch.
