In Sync (MMTPT148)

For this tea party, we were to bring two or more of something that were exactly alike. Think synchronized swimming! The four children are in matching inner-tubes and they are TRYING to do some synchronized swimming. The fish below them are really doing a great job of swimming in unison though!! I used the new stamp set, "Sunny Fun" from the Summer Mini, stamped on Water Color Paper and water colored using WCW Crayons and an Aqua Painter. The card stock is Tempting Turquoise and Tangerine Tango with Tangerine Tango Ribbon tied into a bow. I just got the fish brads at Jenny's in Grass Valley when I went shopping at her house! Everything except the brads is from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!!!

Teacher Appreciation (CAS121)

The Clean & Simple Challenge is to fold or scrunch ribbon. I folded mine. I thought maybe my grandson could use this to give to his teacher. I just got the apple brads at Jenny's in Grass Valley this weekend. The Late Night Stampers challenge for this week is to make a Teacher Appreciation card anyway. I folded the gingham ribbon, used the Postage Punch on Real Red and 1" Square Punch on Confetti White, and then I added one of my new brads. The sentiment is from "So Happy For You" (SAB). Very simple, very easy! Everything is from Stampin' Up! except the brad and ribbon. Thanks for stopping by!!

CASEing Rosemary (FS225)

Our Featured Stamper this week is RosiGrid. I chose to CASE her "Protection" card. I changed it to white on white and made a wedding card. Instead of patterned paper, I paper pierced Whisper White. I didn't use any die cuts either, but I added a bow. I used "Word Play" and added a Basic Jewels Rhinestone for the diamond on the ring (the "o" in "do"). I did use Basic Pearls in the corners though. Everything thing except the ribbon is from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!!

Grass Valley Trip

I'm in Grass Valley. We drove up here yesterday and spent the day with patsmethers, irishgreensue, Jenny (I don't remember her screen name), Natalie (Pat's stampin' mom), Judy Kell stopped by, and the big surprise was that our lovely driver, wannabcre8ive was here too! It's so wonderful to get together with online friends, and my mom enjoyed the ride! My daughter is coming up from Durham, California, to join us for breakfast, hang out, and then have lunch before we leave.
We met in front of Ben Franklin's in Nevada City (before going in to shop). I took this photo of Pat, Eddie (my son) and Greenie right in front of the store. Of course, this was after lots of hugs all around! Pat has some great photos of Greenie and me when we first met. We only knew each other from online and telephone calls. It's even better now!
The big surprise came inside the store when I found out that our lovely driver was here, too. This photo Greenie took of the driver and assistant driver (me). This was in Jenny's home which is a whole other story!
This is Jenny. She used to own a craft store in Nevada City. Now, it's all in her home. We got to shop there, too. She's at her computer having just entered in our purchases. It sure was nice of her to have us all as her guests.
Here's Pat holding up an easel card with "da man" from the "Wild Wild West" set. She's in Jenny's Craft Room. Wow! You should see all the stamps, supplies, accessories, etc. and how organized everything is! Awesome.
Here I am! I'm in Jenny's Craft Room. What a place! The whole house is just gorgeous. How would you like to have a whole craft store in your house?!! What fun we all had. The next get-together is planned for next May. We're all supposed to meet in Illinois at Shirley's (wannabcre8ive). I'm so looking forward to THAT! Even more of the Twisted Sistahs will be there.

Double Embossing (TSC0527)

The Twisted Sistahs Challenge was presented by marleygo. Lesley asked us to emboss an image in our Big Shot or Cuttlebug machine and then use Versamark and embossing powder to heat emboss the image. I used a Cuttlebug borders EF for the flowers and then heat embossed with Melon Mambo and Wild Wasabi EP's. The flower centers were colored with Daffodil Delight Marker. The sentiment is from "So Happy for You" (SAB). I made this a one-layer CAS card. Oh, and one other thing was required for this challenge, a bow. I used Very Vanilla 1/8" Ribbon. Everything is from Stampin' Up! except for the embossing folder. Thanks for stopping by, and I'm glad that the Blogger is working now!!!

Blogger Troubles Again

I haven't been able to post to my blog. It's obviously OK now though. I will make a card this morning for the Twisted Sistahs Challenge and post it later. Did ya miss me? LOL!

Huh? (MMTPT147)

For this tea party, we were to bring anything to do with fishing. The card is going to Colton, the little 10 year old boy in West Virginia that I made the camping card for. Pat told Cindy talked about him, and he wound up being our destination for this week's tea party. Well, we were supposed to do fishy cards, but then, Cindy found out that Colton will be the Grand Marshall in their local strawberry festival parade, so we were to incorporate strawberries on our fishy cards if at all possible. That fish just looks confused seeing a strawberry used for bait! LOL! I used Pacific Point for the base card and embossed the whole front with a CB folder (Tiny Bubbles). The "grass" is free hand cut from Old Olive and then scrunched up before adhering to the card. The fish came from a set from Mike's by Recollections called, "Feeling Fishy". The strawberry is from "Tart & Tangy". The fish was heat embossed with Iridescent Ice, and the strawberry was done with Clear EP. Both were popped up with Dimensionals. Everything is from Stampin' Up! except the fish stamp and the EF. Thanks for stopping by!

Scrap Booking At Last (LNS122)

I haven't done any scrap booking in a while, but I have lots of photos, mementos and post cards to scrap from last summer's Disney World vacation. I found a Simply Scrapping Kit in my stash that's retired, but it sure works for the Epcot Center pages! It's called, "He's Too Cool". It has these "modern" symbols and objects. It makes the task of scrapping more fun and much faster! Everything used to make this page is from Stampin' Up! Thanks again for stopping by!!!

Scrap Card (CAS120)

The Clean & Simple Challenge for this week is to follow a sketch by ReginaBD. This card was made from scraps of some old SAB DSP, a piece of Crumb Cake card stock that only needed to be trimmed a little and some already cut Certainly Celery Ribbon. The Celery base card and the Paper Daisy were not scraps. The sentiment, stamped with Whisper White Craft, is from "Short & Sweet" which is my "go to" set for sentiments that will fit just about anywhere. Everything used to make this card is from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!!

Cool Cat (MMTPT146)

Well, I missed last Tuesday's tea party, so I thought I'd try to make a clean and simple card, at least, for Anthony who is recovering from some major injuries from being hit by a truck while walking outside a mall. The cool cat is a digital freebie at Hambo Stamps. I water colored the image, matted on Very Vanilla, and popped up the panel on a Bashful Blue base card. The sentiment is from "So Happy For You" (SAB). Thanks again for stopping by!!

CASEing Carly (FS224)

This week's Featured Stamper is PaperInBloom. I really enjoyed checking out Carly's gallery. I chose to CASE her "Driving By" card. I changed from the A2 size to a 4.25" square card and used Bashful Blue as the card base. I used different stamps and punched out my clouds with the Cupcake Punch. I forgot to pop up the fence, but I popped up my car and all my clouds. The car and "VROOM!" are a $1 clear stamp from Mike's. The lady and the "Driving by with a birthday Hi!" sentiment are from "Loads of Love Accessories". I used the same MS fence and grass punches though. Thanks for stopping by!!

Two Cards, Finally!!! (F4A65, ODBDSLC61, TSC0520)

I'm back! I've had muscle spasms all week and have slept a lot. Making up for lost time. Boy, those muscle spasms can get you down!
The Free 4 All Challenge is called Opposites Attract, and we are to make cards with colors that are opposites on a color wheel. Blue and orange are my opposites. This is also for the Our Daily Bread Designs Shining the Light Challenge which was to use plaid or gingham. I used plaid from the Pawsitively Prints DSP (retired). The boat is a single stamp from SU! called "Sail Away" and the quote is from the ODBD "Eternity" set. I used Pacific Point and Tangerine Tango card stocks and inks. I added orange eyelets (Brights, Retired) and Pacific Point Ribbon. Everything is from Stampin' Up! except for the Nesties and the quote.
This is another card for the Free 4 All Challenge because I used Red and Green. The main reason for this card, though, is the Twisted Sistahs Challenge which was to make a card with a red or light red (pink) flower on it and one other embellishment besides ribbon. The embossed flowers are done with the new Impressions Folder from Stampin' Up! called "Flower Garden". The stamped, colored and cut out flowers are from "Fast & Fabulous", a retired hostess set which I just love. The leaves are just cut out free hand. The ribbon is Real Red Satin, the sentiment is from "So Happy for You" (SAB), and I added that little watering can brad for my other embellishment. Everything here except for the brad came from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!!

Two CAS Cards (CAS119, TLC325)

The Clean & Simple Challenge for this week is a Word Inspiration Challenge, and the word is "Gift". I was going to put a little gift bag on the front of my card. I had it out and ready to go, but then I decided to make the card look like a gift. I used Daffodil Delight for the base card and the Key Tag Punched piece and Rich Razzleberry DSP. The ribbon is also Rich Razzleberry. VERY Clean & Simple!! Everything used to make this card is from Stampin' Up!!
The Technique Lovers Challenge is to make paper buttons. You can find instructions for those in the SplitCoastStampers Resource Section here. Now, if you want a particular color or shape of button that you don't have in your button stash, this is the way to go! I wanted to use a brown button in the middle of my yellow flower, so the problem was solved. I used the 3/4" and 1/2" Circle Punches to make my button out of Chocolate Chip card stock. I used the Flower Daisy #2 Die for the flower die cut from Daffodil Delight. I used Wild Wasabi for the stem, grass and punched leaves (Blossom Petals Punch). I tied the button with Early Espresso Bakers Twine and used "Elegant Cheer" (retired) for the sentiment. Everything used to make this card except the grass edge punch came from Stampin' Up!! Thanks for stopping by!!

CASEing Amy (FS223)

Our Featured Stamper this week is Aimes. Amy has a gallery that is full of clean and simple cards. Some are a bit fancier, but all are quite elegant. I chose to CASE her "Hope Your Day is Fabulous" card. I used a different border punch, papers, sentiment, and I made my rose with the Owl Punch instead of using a Prima. I did add some Dazzling Diamonds to the edges of the petals, and I punched leaves instead of using ribbon. I love her stuff!! I used Tempting Turquoise Textured card stock for the base card, Chocolate Chip for the border and leaves, Tempting Turquoise smooth card stock for the rose and Tempting Turquoise (Brights) DSP. I used the Owl Punch, Corner Rounder and the large Scallop Circle Punch. I also used the Blossom Petals Punch for the leaves. Everything except the border punch is from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!

Note: For instructions on how to make the Owl Punched Rose, go to Valita's Designs and Fresh Folds Blog.

Find the circles (TSC0513)

The Twisted Sistahs Challenge for this week was presented by patsmethers. Pat challenged us to make a card for a ten year old boy who is fighting cancer. She mentioned some things that boys that age like such as video games, sports, Swiss army knives, etc. I remember when my son was ten. He was a Boy Scout and he did like to go camping. Actually, he still does, and so do I. The other part of the challenge was to have three circles on the card that are different sizes. Well, aside from the obvious one, can you find all the circles on this card? Let me know what you've found by making a comment. I think I'll send something to the first one to get them all. Thanks for stopping by!!

Blogger Troubles

Well, it seems Blogger was having some issues for about a day and a half. I posted two cards yesterday, but they're gone now. If I get the time, I will post them again. One was for the CCEE Stampers Challenge and was called, "Eat Chocolate", and the other was for the Ways To Use It Challenge and was called, "Mighty Oak". You can always see them in my SCS Gallery until I get time to straighten this out. MrsBoz's gallery. Thanks!!

Honoring Queen Anne Ryan (QFTD60)

Our Queen this week is Anne Ryan. She's the one who started the Queen for the Day Challenge. It's about time we honored her! I chose to CASE her "The Weight of It All" card. She used a funny image on hers and kidded around with one of the stampers about her having posed for the image! LOL! Anyway, I changed stamps, colors, papers and flourishes. I used the "On the Grow" set, water colored, cut out and popped up the image. I added Crystal Effects to the vase. The base card is Wild Wasabi with a layer of Whisper White and then a layer of Certainly Celery Prints DSP (retired). My flourish is the Sizzix Scribbles Swirls Sizzlit and the ribbon is Certainly Celery instead of White. Everything used to make this card is from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!!

The Simple Things (SC332)

Today's sketch challenge has a horizontal panel that goes between the main image panel and the wide frame. I used "Touch of Kindness" from the Summer Mini and water colored. The base card is Naturals White and the main image panel is Whisper White. The mats are Tangerine Tango. The DSP's are retired. Everything is from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!!!

Basil Blessings (MMTPT145)

This Tea Party was all about gardening, and we were to bring whatever would make a lovely garden such as garden tools, gloves, hats, plants, seeds, bulbs, and especially veggies. I figured we could used some basil to give flavor to all the veggies everyone else is bringing. I also brought seeds and bulbs so we can plant pretty flowers to give our garden lots of color. This card will go to a friend of one of our tea potters who needs some cheering up. Everything used here is from Stampin' Up! except the Nesties. Thanks for stopping by!!

I've been sick

Here's the scoop: When I got home from my spa day, I was OK, but I got a sore throat the very next day. It was the worst sore throat I've had in my life. I was even having trouble breathing because my airway was getting so swollen. That Friday, I went to the doctor's. It takes a lot to get me to do that because I have no health insurance, so I have to pay cash up front. That little ten-minute visit cost $110!! He prescribed Amoxicillin for 10 days, 1500 mg per day! Well, I got down to the 9th day which was last Saturday. I started itching, especially the palms of my hands and the bottoms of my feet. I was miserable all day and didn't post here. On Sunday, I was worse. I finished my antibiotics, but by Sunday night, I had hives. I took a Benedryll before I went to bed and was only able to get up to get my son up for school. The hives and itching were going away though. On Tuesday, yesterday, I felt a bit better and I got through the day which consisted of appointments and errands in Reno all day. I did finally get a card made, but I haven't posted it here yet. I will do that next, plus I will post today's sketch challenge card. If you have been wondering where I've been, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!

To Honor Faith (QFTD59)

Our queen this week is markie's mom. Faith has been on SCS about as long as I have. She registered in April of 2006, and I registered in September of the same year. She posted her first card in January of 2007, and I posted my first in February of 2007. There's one huge difference though; she has over 115,000 posts! Yikes! Also, she's extremely talented. When I met her (online) she was an SU! demo. Since then, she has started her own business, Mark's Finest Papers. I have some sheer ribbons from MFP. Anyway, I chose to CASE her "You Make Me Happy" card which was a Technique Lovers Challenge. The challenge was to use a Levi tag. The only things I changed were the colors, including papers, ribbon and inks, and I didn't use buttons or brads, but I used little embossed flowers instead. Everything used to make this card came from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!!

Punched Rain (TSC0506)

Our Twisted Sistahs Challenge was presented by Tater. Phyllis lives in Texas where they are suffering from drought conditions. They are really praying for rain while many parts of the country are flooding. Phyllis asked us to make cards that remind us of rain. I used a Basic Gray base card with a layer of Bashful Blue. I punched the clouds from Whisper White with the Cupcake Punch and popped them up. The rain drops were punched with a Fiskars teardrop punch from Bashful Blue. The umbrellas were punched with a MS umbrella punch from Basic Black and punched again from DSP scraps, trimmed and adhered to the black and popped up. The sentiment, "Let a smile be your umbrella", was computer generated. Thanks for stopping by!

May 2011 Club Projects

Our first project for this month's club is this card featuring the new "Flower Fest" stamp set from the Summer Mini. I started with Daffodil Delight card stock for the base and added the DSP from Beyond the Garden. I used all three of the new embossing powders: Wild Wasabi, Melon Mambo and Tangerine Tango. I colored with Water Color Wonder Crayons and an Aqua Painter. The large flower is punched out with the Fancy Flower Punch, the roses are punched out with the 1-3/8" Circle Punch and the leaves are hand cut. I also used the 2-1/2" Circle Punch for the sentiment panel. I finished it off by using a rhinestone from the Basic Jewels and placed it in the center of the large flower. The sentiment is from "All Year Cheer".
Our second project is about paper piecing. I'm not sure if we've ever done paper piecing in this club. The "Pun Fun" Hippo is perfect for that and this card can be a child's birthday card or a baby card. I guess I'm into Daffodil Delight this month! The base card is Naturals White with a layer of Daffodil Delight that was embossed with Perfect Polka Dots. The hippo was stamped on Whisper White and again on Daffodil Delight DSP from the Brights Pack. The head was stamped again so that it could be popped up. The sentiment is from "Short & Sweet". I used the Word Window Punch and the Modern Label Punch for the sentiment. I used a Daffodil Delight Marker for the balloon, toe nails and bow, although I'm putting Real Red and Pacific Point Markers in the basket for my ladies to have a choice. Everything used to make these cards came from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!!!

Secret Sister Gift

I didn't get a chance to make any cards today, but I did make this Tissue Box Cover. I'm the Secret Angel for our Secret Sister Program at my church. I remind all the sisters to pray for each other and to send cards. I also get gifts from on sister to another so that they won't be found out. That's the fun part! Actually, even more fun than that is making a gift for every secret sister for her birthday. I'm making tissue box covers for every one of the secret sisters. There are no birthdays in May (except for mine), but there are three or four in June. I thought I'd get a head start on the June birthday gifts. I made this one with the retired Sage Shadow and Very Vanilla because the first birthday girl in June has a guest bathroom that she says is sage and ivory. I made the Fancy Flower punched roses and sponged them. I did a lot of embossing. Everything is from Stampin' Up! except the border punch and the border embossing folder. Thanks for stopping by!!

Twisted Thanks (TLC323)

The Technique Lover's Challenge is to make a Twisted Easel card. There are instructions on Laura Lipe's Blog. I did mine almost exactly like Laura's except for a change of colors, sentiment and no sentiment in the scallop circle flower at the bottom. I used Tangerine Tango for the base and Pumpkin Pie DSP from the Brights Pack. I stamped the flowers from Petals Pizazz on Whisper White with Tangerine Tango and Pumpkin Pie inks. The centers were punched from Whisper White and Tangerine Tango scraps with the Punch Pack Flower, and Basic Pearls were added to the centers. The sentiment is from a Sale-A-Bration set, "So Happy For You." The ribbon is Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon, and the center of the scallop flower at the bottom is from Sweet Pea DSP. Everything used to make this card came from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!!

Blue Bird (CAS117)

The Clean & Simple Challenge is a color challenge. We are to use Chocolate, Sand, Baby Blue and White. I used Naturals White for the base card and Chocolate Chip and Crumb Cake for the main panel. I stamped the bird with "Punch Potpourri" (hostess) using Bashful Blue ink and punched it out with the Bird & Branch Punch. I stamped it a second time to punch out the wing. I punched the branch from Whisper White. The sentiment from "Short & Sweet" is stamped with Chocolate Chip ink and the ribbon is Bashful Blue Taffeta. I added a tiny pearl from Basic Pearls for the eye. Everything used to make this CAS card is from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!!

CASEing Susan (FS221)

Our Featured Stamper for this week is LateBlossom. Susan has such a wonderful gallery full of Clean and Simple cards. I chose to CASE her "Trendy Thinking of You" card. I changed the colors, sentiment and the trim at the bottom. I used Naturals White for the base card with Pear Pizazz and Whisper White. I stayed with her layout and "Trendy Trees" stamp set. I used the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border with an In-Color Glimmer Brad instead of a button. Everything here is from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!!
