March 2012 Card Makers

I don't have a club anymore, but some of the ladies still want to come over once a month or so to make a couple of cards. They don't want to be required to order a certain amount or at all, but they are willing to pay for the cards. We really enjoy those creative times together. This coming Thursday is the first Thursday in March, so we will be getting together again. I thought we'd make Easter cards.

The two cards we will make will be colored in two different ways. Card #1 is made with the "Bordering on Romance" set and colored with Markers and Blender Pen. I'm starting to really like the Calypso Coral which I didn't like at first. The base card, scalloped mat and ribbon are all Calypso Coral. The DSP is Everyday Enchantment which is an SAB item (Free with $50 or more order). The sentiment came from the "Heaven Blessed" set. I also used a layer of Lucky Limeade and Whisper White for the main image panel. The brad is from the Ribbon/Brad Bundle which is also an SAB item. Although my sample has an Easter sentiment, any sentiment would work on this one.

Card #2 is made using the "Heaven Blessed" set and water coloring with Water Color Wonder Crayons and an Aqua Painter. The same sentiment was used on both cards. Also, the same DSP was used on both cards. This card has the boy on it, so I thought it would be best without ribbon or frills. It's a flat card which is also easier to mail. All products used for both cards are from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!!

Honoring Queen Pat (QFTD101)

Our Queen for the Day this week is kokirose. Pat is such a sweet lady. She always leaves such sweet comments on every one's cards. Pat is known for sewing on her cards, just about ALL of them. I am not that good at sewing on cards, but I gave it a shot to honor Pat. I CASEd this card. I changed the colors from green and brown to pink and gray and used an image of a girl instead of a boy. Instead of brads in the corners of the main image panel, I just used one rhinestone brad to tie the bow and added some paper roses. I stamped the sentiment on the dp instead of a separate panel. Thanks for stopping by!!

Hangin' With My Gnomies

I made a child's birthday card this morning which reminded me that my own daughter's birthday is Sunday!! Yikes! I have to get this in the mail today so that she'll get it by Saturday! I know she'll just love this. I bought another tutorial from Kim Score. Her blog is Paper Punch Addiction, and she has some tutorials for free and others that you can buy. I love this garden gnome from her "In the Garden" collection. I used the "Gnomenclature" set for the sentiment which my daughter will get a kick out of. The base card is Chocolate Chip with some retired DSP. The card is 5-3/8" square. I used a lot of punches for this one! Everything used to make this card is from Stampin' Up! Thanks again for stopping by!!

Happy Birthday! (MMTPT186, TSC0224)

The Teapot Tuesday Challenge is to make a birthday card for a child. My friend's son, Chris, wants to give the cards to the nurses at the pediatric hospital where he recovered from surgery to have a tumor removed from his brain. I think that's so sweet of him to think of others like that! The Twisted Sistahs Challenge was presented by Tater. Phyllis asked us to make a birthday card that was all about cake and ice cream. These two challenges are perfect to combine. I used the "Happiest Birthday Wishes" hostess set for the sentiment, coloring the letters separately with markers. I also used "Sweet Scoops" for the ice cream. The cupcake and the cherries were punched using the Build a Cupcake Punch. The cupcake paper was punched from retired DSP and then crimped to look more like a cupcake. Everything used to make this card is from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!!!

February 2012 Stamp Camp Projects

Project #1 will be this St. Patrick's Day card made with a base card of Naturals White, then a layer of Garden Green, and a layer of Whisper White that is embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder. The shamrock was made using the Scalloped Heart of Hearts Embosslit. The stamp is "Lucky Shamrock", and I used Garden Green ink and punched it out with the 1-3/4" Circle Punch. The ribbon was a gift.

Project #2 is white on white with gold metallic ribbon which was also a gift. The base card is Naturals White with a layer of Whisper White that was embossed with the Square Lattice Impressions Folder. I used Whisper White and the Labels Framelit to make the sentiment panel, and I used Versamark ink and Gold Embossing Powder. The stamp is a single stamp called "Easter Dove".

Project #3 was done using the "Everybunny" stamp set. The image was stamped on Whisper White with Black Stazon and water colored using Water Color Wonder Crayons and an Aqua Painter. The pink card stock is Blushing Bride and the DSP is called "Twitterpated". The lace ribbon here was also a gift.

Project #4 is another Easter card. I used the "He is Risen" stamp set and stamped the daffodils on the front and the sentiment on the inside. The main image was colored with SU! Markers. The base card is Certainly Celery, the DSP is, again, "Twitterpated", and the yellow is Daffodil Delight. The yellow ribbon was also a gift.

Project #5 is an Easter basket. It's made using the Origami box technique, but just using the bottom of the box and attaching a handle. I think I got the original instructions for this basket from Kim Score's blog. Mine is Blush Blossom with My Mind's Eye designer paper, but the ladies will be using Pale Plum and Perfect Plum with some coordinating paper. They will have coordinating Easter grass as well. Those two rectangular things are chocolate bars wrapped in the same designer paper. I think we'll add some of that ribbon I was given to those candy bars. The flowers on the sides were made using the Fancy Flower Punch and Boho Blossoms Punch..

Everything used to make these projects is from Stampin' Up! except for the ribbons and some Spellbinder Nesties. Thanks for stopping by!!

All Creatures Great and Small

There's another challenge from "There's Magic in the Air with Paper Cupcakes". I'm a guest designer for February, and I used "Friends in All Sizes" which is a digital image from Paper Cupcakes. The challenge is called, "All creatures great and small", so this image works perfectly. The base card is Basic Black with a layer of giraffe print dp that I've had for over 15 years. I die cut the Fleur de Lis frame with a Spellbinders die. I sponged the background on the main panel and colored the image with SU! Markers. I used a Marvy Oak Leaf Punch and a Martha Stewart Fern Punch for the leaves and topped it off with a black satin bow. Thanks for stopping by!!

St. Patrick's Day Favors

I have some ladies coming over Friday to make cards. I'm making these for favors for them since St. Patrick's Day is coming soon. One of the ladies is Irish, so she'll love this.

This view shows the little envelope without the belly band. I put three Andes candies in there. I die cut the envelopes with the Scallop Envelope Die. I made the hats using instructions shown on Maria Vanderform's blog. The only change I made was the ribbon from black to Certainly Celery. I also just used Dazzling Details on the little shamrocks on the hats. Of course, mine is on the favor instead of a card, too. Thanks, Maria! Everything used to make this project is from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!!

Simply Hello (QFTD100)

This week's Queen for the Day is Understandblue. Most people who have been around SCS any time at all know who Lydia is. It's an honor to CASE such a talented stamper. She said it only took 30 seconds to make this card that she simply called "Hi". She inspired me to make a 30 second card! The striped card is from "Create and Keep" Simply Sent Kit which is in the Occasions Mini. The tag is from the "Tea Time" Simply Scrappin' Kit. The sentiment stamp is from "Elementary Elegance" SAB set, and I just added three Basic Jewels Rhinestones. Yep, you can make a card in under 30 seconds!! Everything used here is from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!

Elebrate! (TSC0217)

Our Twisted Sistahs Challenge for this week was presented by me. I asked everyone to make a child's birthday card using the "Out-of-the-box" technique. It also must have some yellow on it somewhere. I thought I'd get some ideas for making juvenile cards for my grandchildren. One of my grandsons will be three next week. I had to make this card now in order to get it in the mail on time. Card stocks are Bashful Blue, Barely Banana (retired), and Whisper White. The DSP is Pawsitively Prints (retired) which was part of the "Build-a-Bear" collection. The stamp is called "Elebration", and I water colored it. Everything used to make this card came from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!

Camouflaged Teapot (MMTPT185)

I haven't been able to participate in the tea parties much lately. This week's challenge was based on a photo of a room that had a lamp and table in the foreground with a teapot base for both the lamp and the table. We were to use that as our inspiration to make our teapots camouflaged. This one is camouflaged because it has the same flowers on it as the wallpaper behind it. The die cut teapot was sent to me by Momof5sons. Marie drew me in a "Tickle a Tea potter" a couple of months ago, and she sent me a couple die cut teapots. I knew they'd come in handy! The base card is Calypso Coral and the teapot was die cut from Naturals Ivory and the DSP is "Everyday Enchantment" (SAB). The teapot was stamped with "Fresh Vintage" (SAB) which was colored with markers before stamping. Thanks for stopping by!!

CASEing Kathy (Cuz) (FS262)

This week's Featured Stamper is 101Airborne. Kathy is a good friend; in fact, we call each other "Cuz". I couldn't wait to CASE her "DDMCC05" card. I only changed the colors slightly, I changed the stamped image and I used different DSP. I kept the layout and the theme. I used Soft Suede, Not Quite Navy and Naturals Ivory card stocks along with "Well Worn" DSP. The stamp is from "Uncharted Territory". I sponged with Cajun Craze and Not Quite Navy inks. Everything used here is from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!!

Green Trees (QFTD98, TSC0210)

I'm so far behind on my card making that I had to combine two challenges for this card. First of all, the Queen for the Day LAST WEEK was Brat Cards. Terri is one of the Twisted Sistahs, too. I CASEd her "Green Trees on Gold" card. I used the same set, "Plant Hope", but instead of stamping on a gold background, I stamped on Certainly Celery, embossed with the Designer Frames Impressions Folder from SU! and then cut it out and popped it up. I made the card an A2 size and used dp as well. Instead of gold cord, I used green lace. The base card is also Certainly Celery. The other challenge is this week's Twisted Sistahs Challenge which was presented by Sillyfilly. Silly asked us to make a monochromatic card in any color we wanted. Everything on this card is a shade of green. Thanks for stopping by!!

Sunbeams to Raindrops (FS260)

The Featured Stamper two weeks ago was none other than our lovely driver, wannabcre8ive. Shirt is our fearless leader on the Twisted Sistahs bus. Although this is way late, I just had to CASE one of her cards to honor my sistah and dear friend. I chose to CASE her "Catch a Sunbeam" card. I changed the image so I could use this "Singing in the Rain" stamp that she gave me. I also changed the colors a little, the designer paper, and I changed the layout just a bit. I thought I had the deckled edge Nesties, but I don't, so I used some old Fiskars scissors to cut the Night of Navy piece. Instead of a ribbon flower, I just punched an umbrella to use for an embellishment. Thanks for stopping by!!

Rosey Thank You (TSC0203)

I have not had time to make ANY cards lately! I'm so far behind on everything, I just can't believe it. This card is for LAST week's Twisted Sistahs Challenge which was presented by 101Airborne. Kathy asked us to make a card with two colors and one had to be black. She also said it could either be a circle shaped card or have a circle on it. I used the Scallop Circle Die from Stampin' Up! to make the base card. The Real Red panel was sent to me by Kathy already embossed. I used a Nestie to cut that circle. I used the Scallop Circle Punch and 1-3/8" Circle Punch to make the sentiment panel. I added the lace ribbon and satin roses for embellishments. Thanks for stopping by!!

Angry Bird for Chris

This is for Chris. He's the boy who had brain surgery to have a tumor removed. He is home now and on the mend doing physical therapy as an out-patient. His mom (coffeestamper, aka Perk, aka Sue) is an online friend of mine. She's also one of the Twisted Sistahs. She contacted me with a link to a card with an angry bird on it. She knows how much I like to do punch art. I asked her if she was going to CASE that card for Chris because she had told me that he loves the Angry Bird games. She said she didn't have all the punches required, so I told her I'd make one for him. The card was originally made by Debbie Naylor. She has complete, step-by-step instructions on her blog. I followed her instructions but left off the sentiment panel. I used Naturals White for the base card and textured pre-trimmed card stock for the aqua piece. I have to use up all those card fronts somehow. Thanks for stopping by!!

Valentine Gift

I'm a guest designer for Paper Cupcakes for February! Can you believe it?!!! Besides that, I'm late for posting my challenge project! Yesterday was pretty hectic around here. Anyway, the challenge is called "For Someone You Love". We were to make a card or project using Nina's "Enjoy the Moment" digital image and use pink, white and one other color. I made the belly band for a nugget tin for my Secret Sister at church. That cute bunny is prancing through pink posies with his heart in in hand, ready to deliver it to my Sister!! I used Whisper White which is punched with the Eyelet Border Punch and SU! DSP for the belly band. The image is colored with SU! Markers and matted on Certainly Celery card stock. The butterfly and flowers have Dazzling Details added for some extra sparkle.

This photo shows the nuggets in the tin with various SU! DSP wrappers. I have a list in the bottom of the tin which indicates which DSP holds which kind of candy. The Melon Mambo DSP has Special Dark with Almonds, etc. Thanks for stopping by!!
