Out West (CAS168)

The Clean and Simple Challenge for this week is a color challenge: Green, Brown and White or Ivory. I stamped the cowboy from "Out West" (retiring) with Chocolate Chip Ink, and I matted the main image panel on Old Olive. I added Natural Hemp Twine (retiring) and felt it was still too plain, so I did a little paper piercing. Everything is from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!!

Feel Better (C4C134)

Over at the Crazy 4 Challenges Blog the challenge for this week is to do paper piecing. I stamped the injured rhino from the "Kidoodles" set on the cardboard that comes with DSP and then again on some retired Bashful Blue DSP. I had to stamp his snout one more time on white card stock to create the "bandage". I used 120# white card stock for the base card, Whisper White for the embossed layer, Bashful Blue DSP for the die cut Eyelet Square, and then the recycled card board. I added the little satin knot for a little embellishment. This is mostly from SU! Thanks for stopping by!!

Honoring Queen Holly (QFTD110)

Our Queen For The Day is Toy (aka Holly). Holly is one of the most talented stampers around. I really spent a lot of time in her gallery trying to choose a card. I actually chose several, but wound up CASEing her "My Heart" card. I didn't want to change a thing, but I did change the colors, papers and stamps. I used Very Vanilla for the base card, punching the borders with the same Eyelet Border Punch. I used a different retired DSP, and I die cut the leaves with the Little Leaves Sizzlit instead of stamping. My flower is from the "Fabulous Florets" set. I stamped with Versamark and embossed with Clear EP, then I sponged with Marina Mist and popped it up. I left off the sentiment but I did use Basic Jewels Pearls in the flower center. I still like her card better! Everything is from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!!

HIS Boots (TSC0427)

The Twisted Sistahs Challenge for this week was presented by irishgreensue. Greenie asked us to use the faux leather technique as shown in the resources section of SCS. I only have blue masking tape, and since I just purchased airline tickets, I can't afford to buy ANYTHING extra until the middle of next month. Instead of using that technique, I used a Sizzix Texturz Plate (Leather) to create the leather look on my photo corners. I used a Versamark pen to cover them with the ink and then heat embossed with Clear EP to get a little shine. I layered them and added Vintage Brads. The boots are from the "Wild Wild West" set. They belong to "Da Man". I stamped the image on a piece of the cardboard that comes with DSP, colored it, covered it with Versamark and clear embossed it too. After embossing, I used a Sponge Dauber with More Mustard to sponge the background. I matted it on another piece of my faux leather (Early Espresso), but the mat is not embossed. The base card is Early Espresso with a layer of "Well Worn" DSP. Everything is from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!!

Silver Spurs (SC382, WT372)

This is for yesterday's Sketch Challenge and today's Ways To Use It Challenge on SCS. I like this sketch because I really don't have to add any other embellishments. I just kept it very clean, and it will be easy to mail. The Ways To Use It Challenge is to keep it monochromatic. I used Basic Black for the base card and matting. I used Baja Breeze Textured Card Stock and Smooth Card Stock along with some retired DSP that has Baja Breeze and white. The spur was stamped with Versmark and embossed with Silver EP; then it was punched with the 1-1/4" Circle Punch, matted on black that was punched with the 1-3/8" Circle Punch. It's also popped up on a Dimensional. Everything is from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!!!

Go ahead, tattoo me! (MMTPT195)

This week's Teapot Tuesday is all about tattoos. The inspiration teapot is a lady's foot with a tattoo of a heart on the ankle. Well, I don't have any tattoos and no plans of getting one, BUT, if I were to get something drawn on MY ankle, even for one day, it would have to be "Da Man"!!! That's why this cowboy is the center of attention on my card. I've made the blooms before. Blooms in a Box is the one who gave the instructions. My base card is Soft Suede with a layer of River Rock and then the "Well Worn" DSP (brick wall). Da Man (from "Wild Wild West") was stamped with Black Stazon on white card stock that I stained with a tea bag and then sponged with Soft Suede Ink. Everything was sponged with Soft Suede Ink! The blooms were punched with MS Punches from Cajun Craze, the leaves from River Rock and the "sage brush" branches from Naturals Ivory. I added Gold Stickles in the centers of the blooms. Everything is from Stampin' Up except for the punches. Thanks for stopping by!!

The King (CAS167)

The Clean and Simple Challenge on SCS is called "At The Zoo", so the theme is zoo animals. I immediately thought of "Zoo Review". It's a set with several animals in it, and I chose to go with the lion. I think it's great for masculine cards. The base card is Naturals Ivory, and I used the Scoring Board to score a square; then, I placed a rectangle of More Mustard, popped up my image panel and added the sentiment in More Mustard Ink. Thanks for stopping by!!

CASEing Karen (FS272)

This week's Featured Stamper is kthaman. Karen has such a great gallery that you can spend hours there. I think she sent me a card several years ago when I first started on SCS which was an example of a particular technique. It was a beautiful card. Anyway, when you do the Featured Stamper Challenge, you are supposed to change two things. I picked a couple of cards to CASE that I didn't want to change anything! I finally chose this card because I still have the "Doodle This" set and I could change a couple of things without really changing the card. I changed the colors, DSP and sentiment. I used Crumb Cake for the base card and Newsprint DSP for the Spiral Punched panel. I used Calypso Coral for the flower and the ribbon. My sentiment is from "Outlined Occasions" (2012 SAB), and I colored the bottom portion with a colored pencil. Everything used to make this card is from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!!!

Honoring Queen Sue (QFTD109)

Our Queen For The Day is suen. Sue and I have traded comments over the years and I've always admired her work. I chose to CASE her "Birdie Hello" card. I was attracted to that card because of the plaid dp and the birdies. I used a different stamp set and punched my birdie instead of cutting it out. I also did not frame my birdie. I just added him directly to the plaid dp. Instead of another birdie, I stamped and punched out the quote. I put my ribbon horizontally instead of vertically and added the stamped, punched flowers. Everything except the dp is from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!!!

Altered Box (TSC0420)

The Twisted Sistahs Challenge for this week was presented by Tater. Phyllis asked us to alter something and we couldn't use PINK.
This is a box I think was already recycled at least once. I got a "#1 Grandma" necklace from one of my grandchildren for Christmas, and it was in this box with lots of tissue.
I got a kick out of what it says inside. It's made from 75% Pre-consumer recycled materials, 25% virgin recyclable materials, and finally, it's says, "Please Recycle"! Ha! Yeah, we recycle! LOL! Any number of times!!
This is what the bottom and top of the box looked like before the alterations.
This is what it looks like after it has been altered. I used Daffodil Delight DSP from the Brights Collection to cover it; stripes on the bottom and polka dots on the lid. Once I did that, I just added a couple of flowers and leaves from Mike's and a metallic ribbon which was a gift. I couldn't get just the right angle to photograph it, but it's much prettier in real life. You get the idea. Thanks for stopping by!!

April 2012 Friday Card Makers Projects

Project #1 is a masculine card and nice and flat for mailing. I'm leaving off the sentiments on both cards so that the ladies can choose to put one on if they like. The stamp was a gift and has no name on it. It reminds me a little of the Titanic, except the Titanic had four stacks. It's probably the type of ship our ancestors came to North America from Europe on. The base card is Naturals Ivory with a layer of Basic Black and the the SU! DSP The ship was stamped on Very Vanilla with Black Stazon and matted on Basic Black.

Project #2 is a bit more feminine. I used the Button Buddies set, colored the vase and leaves with markers before stamping; then, I stamped the vase again with Melon Mambo and cut it out and popped it up. I added buttons that were part of a Ribbon/Button Bundle about a year ago. In fact that ribbon was part of the same bundle. The base card is Melon Mambo and one side is embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder and the other half has Melon Mambo DSP on it. Again, I left off the sentiment so my ladies can decide if they want to use one. This would make a nice Get Well card. Everything used to make this card is from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!!

Just Moooved? (CAS166)

Well, it's been almost a week since I've posted! I'm a foster parent again. I just got a placement about 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning, so I've been busy doing other things and haven't had time for my card making. I'm trying to catch up a little. This card is for the Clean and Simple Challenge on SCS. It's a sketch by Mary Brown. I cut out this cow on my Cricut machine last week to use for the Twisted Sistahs challenge, but then I used a die cut lamb instead. The base card is Naturals White, the scallop circle was punched with the 1-3/4" Circle Punch and the 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punch out of Basic Black. The punched grass is Pear Pizzazz. That sentiment is handwritten. The card goes to someone who is new to our neighborhood. Thanks for stopping by!!!

Stuffed Lamb (TSC0413)

This week's Twisted Sistahs Challenge was presented by me. My challenge was to have a "critter" on a card that was not stamped. My suggestions were to use the Cricut machine to make one, use Sizzlits or other dies, use 3-D stickers, adhere a sticker of a critter to card stock and cut around it, making your own 3-D sticker, make a punch art critter, or use punches such as the Stampin' Up! Owl or Bird Builder Punch. I used a Sizzix "Stuffed Lamb" Sizzlit. I ran it through with Whisper White and then with Pink Pirouette and Daffodil Delight scraps; then, I glued it all together with Tombow Glue. The background is DCWV Nana's Kids pre-embossed card stock. The base card is Naturals White. I used Daffodil Delight Textured card stock behind the lamb and matted with a piece of the cover of a "tablet" of DSP from SU!. The ribbon is Daffodil Delight Taffeta Ribbon, and I added the charm with the little feet. The only stamping is inside, and it simply says, "Welcome Baby" from the "Short & Sweet" set. Thanks for stopping by!!

LNS Sketch (LNS168)

My Late Night Stampers Yahoo group had a sketch challenge this week. I thought I'd try it. I used Daffodil Delight Textured Card Stock for the base card, Daffodil Delight DSP, Whisper White, and Wild Wasabi. I used Wild Wasabi Ink as well. The stamp sets are "Fresh Vintage" (SAB) and Swirls & Curves Verses (retired hostess). I used the Postage Punch and the Eyelet Border Punch. The "stamps" are popped up on Dimensionals. Thanks for stopping by!!

Scalloped Scraps (CAS165)

The Clean and Simple challenge is to use scallops. I used scraps of shades of pink and punched them with the Dotted Scallop Border Punch. The base card is Naturals White. Before applying my scallop strips, I scored four lines so that I could put the strips in between them. The sentiment, from "Elegant Cheer", was stamped with Versamark and embossed with Melon Mambo EP. The strips are Melon Mambo TCS, Blushing Bride and Pink Pirouette. I also made a little envelope for this 4-1/4" square card using Melon Mambo DSP. I punched scallops on that, too. Thanks for stopping by!!

CASEing Ali (FS270)

Our Featured Stamper this week is Albongo. Ali has a wonderful gallery. I chose to CASE her Poppy Fields card. The only changes I made were: different stamp, bow instead of knot on ribbon, different embossing folder for the vertical panel, made it into an easel card, rounded some of the corners, and I moved the sentiment panel. Thanks for stopping by!!

Honoring Queen Gail (CCEE1214, QFTD107, WT369)

This covers three challenges: CCEE Stampers Challenge CCEE1214 - to use an embossing folder, QFTD107 to honor Queen Gail (mamaxsix), and WT369 Ways To Use It Challenge to do coloring. I was inspired by Gail's Easter Daffodils card. I changed colors and layout but used the exact same stamp set. Her card was uploaded to SCS exactly one year ago today! I colored the image for the WT challenge and used the Tulip Frame embossing folder for the CCEE Challenge. Thanks for stopping by!!

Sailing (TSC0406)

Our Twisted Sistahs Challenge for this week is to use shades of brown and two punches or dies and ribbon or twine. We could use another color, but the card was to be predominately brown. I made a masculine card with Early Espresso, Night of Navy and Crumb Cake with Brown Linen dp. The image is "Sail Away" which is a single stamp, and it's stamped with Night of Navy Ink. For the punches, I used a bird punch and a small star punch. I used Hemp Twine and tied it in a sailor's knot. Thanks for stopping by!!

April 2012 Card Makers

We will make two cards tomorrow night. The first one will be my Birthday in Pink card which was for the sketch challenge and is shown in the previous post. The second card will be this masculine card that I CASEd from SpeedyStamper. I left off the black embossed panel and the doodling around the tag. I love the tag idea. A person could pull it off and use it for a bookmark. Anyway, we're making one very feminine card and one masculine card. Thanks for stopping by!!

Birthday in Pink (SC379)

This is for the Sketch Challenge on SCS. I decided to go very girly with this one. I used Pretty In Pink and Whisper White card stocks with Pastel Pink Gingham from Making Memories that I got on sale. I used the Eyelet Border Punch for the white vertical borders. The sentiment from "Happiest Birthday Wishes" (hostess set) was stamped with Versamark, then with Regal Rose and embossed with Clear EP. I punched it out with the Scallop Circle Punch and popped it up on layers that were cut with Nesties. The three horizontal panels are Pretty In Pink with Whisper White punched with the Word Window Punch and three little punched and embossed flowers that were punched with the 4-petal punch from the Punch Pack. I embossed each one and added white dots in the centers with the white gel pen. Thanks for stopping by!!!

For Alix (MMTPT192)

This week's Teapot Tuesday Challenge is a color challenge. We are to use Pink, Black and Silver. We get extra cookies if we include a fluffy white puppy. The card is going to Alix, the daughter of one of our Teapotters (I Love Rubber!). Alix needs some cheering up, so the teapotters are coming to the rescue. The card stocks used here are Basic Black, Regal Rose and Whisper White. The dog is from Rubber Stampede (from Michael's), and the little cup is the "Tiny Teacup" stamp. The sentiment is from "Teeny Tiny Wishes". The flourish is Making Memories Shimmer Flourish Chipboard that I got on sale at Mike's. After taking the photo, I went ahead and added Silver Stickles to each little polka dot on the teacup. Thanks for stopping by!!

Egg Hunt (CAS164)

The Clean and Simple Challenge this week is a technique challenge. We are to use the spotlighting technique. There are several variations of this technique, but usually, you form a frame around a section of an image (round, square, oval) and only color that part of the image inside the frame. I used the "Egg Hunt" wheel (retired) and colored just the eggs inside my frame. The frame was made with the 1" and 1-1/4" square punches. The Whisper White strip is popped up, and the sentiment is from "Heaven Blessed". The base card is Pink Pirouette and is scored above and below the white strip. Thanks for stopping by!!
