Ghost Town (SBSC166)

Well, at least I'm scrap booking! I have a ton of photos from our vacation last summer. Sally's sketches make it easy. Her layout is shown at the right. I moved the embellishment to the opposite side on both pages because I had a big blank spot there.

It was a hot afternoon, and we were thirsty, so we stopped in at the Calico Saloon in Knott's Berry Farm's Ghost Town. We were just in time for the show and got to sit right up front and in the center! For me, this was about the most fun thing at Knott's. I'm really not a fan of those scary roller coasters!!

We also got to witness a gun fight in the street. Two men were beating up a drunk, and then came the Marshall. They had a shoot out, and he won. He even shot the bad guy who was hiding in the windmill tower! It was a great show!

Train Ride & Part 2 (SBSC165)

The Scrap Booking Sketch Challenge from last week worked out so well with some of our vacation photos. The layout is shown at the right. I didn't use buttons. Instead, I stamped images from the "Wanted" set and used three punches to form the discs. Sorry about the glare on two pics; if it wasn't on one pic, it was on another! This page is 12" X 12".

I formed a pocket with the bottom photo and made a tag to hold the journaling. I matted all the photos on Basic Black. The designer papers are from My Mind's Eye. I think that pack was called "Wild Asparagus", but I'm not sure. I used two different Sizzix Alphabet Die Sets: "Skooshy" (which is only $30 right now at Sizzix.com!) and "Retro Metro". I used "Skooshy" for the lower case letters. I need to get busy and do some more pages of our vacation last summer.

For page 2, I adjusted the sketch a bit to fit my photos. All four photos are 4" X 5". I used a different alphabet set for the year, "Cattycorner". I put the vertical paper on the opposite side on this page, too. I also managed to get some glare on one of the photos in this photograph, but if it wasn't on one picture, it was on another!

So Glad (FS94)

I haven't posted since last Wednesday, YIKES!! That's because I haven't been able to stamp! I've been busy getting ready for my last Stamp Camp of the year. I even cooked! LOL! I made a Pumpkin Praline Dessert that turned out great and everyone at the Stamp Camp wanted the recipe. Well, Stamp Camp is over and I have some time to play. At left is Elizabeth's (aka ebethneu) card that I chose to CASE. I really liked the "Out of the box" technique she used on her birdie's trail. I tried to duplicate that with my butterfly trail.

I changed the colors which included card stock, designer paper, ribbon, and ink. I changed the main image panel from a circle to an oval and changed the stamp sets, too. I also added a bow and some sponging. I used the Coluzzle oval template for the main image panel and Nestabilities scallop oval for the mat. I used white gel pen dots instead of dew drops on the scallops. The "flowers" under the sentiment are Sizzlets Birds & Blooms Scallop Circles with gel pen dots. Thanks for stopping by today!!

Asian Influenced (SC203, CC193)

I wasn't able to get to yesterday's Color Challenge until now, but, again, I had to combine it with today's Sketch Challenge. I got busy cutting card stock for last night's club, I had to go to physical therapy, and then I had to go pick up my son's prescriptions and exchange a toy I had bought for a Christmas present. There just wasn't any time left! The layout for the sketch is shown at right.

As you can see, the colors for the Color Challenge were Basic Black, Real Red, and Kraft. I used Architectural Accent #2 Sizzlet for the die cut piece in the lower left of the main image panel. The tiny squares in three of the corners were popped out of the die cut piece. I embossed the cherry blossoms from "Eastern Influences" with Gold Embossing Powder and used the Asian writing for "Beautiful" in the upper right corner. Thanks for visiting today!!!

Merry Christmas Part 3 Stamp Camp

The final Christmas Stamp Camp is coming up this weekend! Everyone will make two cards of each design, and if you've been to the previous two Christmas Stamp Camps, you will have a total of 30 homemade cards! I tried to make the cards for this one as simple as possible, but you know I'm not that good at that!! LOL! Project #1 is white on white with gold embossing. I think it looks so elegant. I hope you can see the rhinestone in the lower right of the tree. Along with the shiny gold embossing, I just had to add some bling!

Project #2 is another embossing project. This one is with white embossing powder. The flower is stamped and cut out. Gold glitter glue was added to the flower center. The scripture (which is on the same stamp as "Christ is Born") was stamped on a narrow strip of white, trimmed using the Large Oval Punch, and matted on Real Red. There's a sentiment inside from the same set and it's also stamped in red.

Project #3 is the final stamp from the Holy Triptych set. The frame is embossed with gold embossing powder and then the Jesus, Mary, and Joseph image is stamped inside the frame and embossed as well. The frame is trimmed and then matted on Brushed Gold card stock. The panel is adhered to the Elegant Eggplant card with Dimensionals.

Project #4 is done with a set we used in Part 1 of the Merry Christmas Stamp Camps. The base card is Baja Breeze with a layer of white that is embossed with the Cuttlebug Snow Dots folder. The main image is stamped with Stazon Jet Black, colored using markers and Blender Pen, and matted on Baja Breeze. Both layers are punched with the Ticket Corner Punch. The snowflake is punched with the Martha Stewart Snowflake punch and adhered to a 1-1/4" punched circle.

Purr-fect! (WT192, LSC194)

I've been busy getting ready for tonight's club so I didn't have time to do yesterday's Ways To Use It Challenge until today, but I combined it with today's Limited Supplies Challenge. Yesterday's challenge was to use Water Color Paper, and today's challenge was to use acrylic stamps. I was surprised that there were no other restrictions! That's cool! I used oval Nestabilities on the water color paper and scalloped oval Nestabilities for the mat. I received some acrylic stamps in a Challenge Chasers swap a few months ago and almost forgot I had them. I stamped the cat image on the water color paper oval with Basic Black ink and water colored the pillow and the cat's eyes with Water Color Wonder Crayons and my Aqua Painter. I already had embossed a Pixie Pink panel with the Cuttlebug Spots n' Dots folder, so that determined my color combo! I added Fine Cosmo Glitter to the cat's collar and a heart-shaped brad over the heart-shaped locket that was stamped. I use the Small Oval Punch on the ends of the sentiment panel before matting it on Basic Black. Thanks for visiting today!!!

Ladies' Night Out November Projects

Project #1 is made with the Sock Monkey set and Sock Monkey Accessories set. I couldn't wait to get the accessories so I could use that Santa Hat! I put Liquid Applique on the white parts of the hat. That stuff is fun to use; I need to get some more! I left the Glorious Green base card plain with the thought that my ladies might want to use some designer paper inside and create a gift card. The sock monkey and hat were water colored, and the scalloped mat was made with scalloped squares Nestabilities.

I got a bit whimsical with the photography by putting the card in a real sock monkey's arms! I just thought it was kind of cute. I just got that sock monkey, and he's MINE!!! LOL! No, the kids or grandkids won't get it. Not right away, at least!

Project #2 will be a Christmas Waterfall Card. There will be one change, though. The horizontal strip will be red instead of white and will have white brads instead of red. These cards are fun to make, but I don't have any luck using eyelets to hold down that horizontal strip, so I use adhesive and brads.

The photo at right shows how the card looks when you start pulling the ribbon at the bottom. From the Deer Friends Hostess Set, I used the Santa, Christmas tree, snowman, and baby Jesus, stamping them in Red, Green, Turquoise, and Lilac respectively. Thanks for visiting my blog today!

The layout shown at the right shows today's Sketch Challenge. I didn't have time to do yesterday's Color Challenge, so I combined the two challenges. The colors were Basic Gray, Pacific Point, and Certainly Celery.

The base card is Basic Gray with a layer of Certainly Celery Prints designer paper (retired) which is matted on Pacific Point. Both layers are Ticket Corner punched. The daisies on the little squares have centers that were colored in with Pacific Point ink and the Blender Pen. I used all three colors and the Priceless set to stamp the main image panel. This would have been an SUO (Stampin' Up! Only) card if I hadn't added the Martha Stewart Punched dove! Doh! Thanks for stopping by today!

Joy Fold Card

Well, I visited Sharon's (notimetostamp) blog and she did such a pretty "Joy Fold" card. Her card went with a cute "Bare Necessities" Box. For the card, she linked to Beate's tutorial which is where I found out how to make this card! All the dimensions and other instructions are in the tutorial. Well, I've been away all weekend, so I haven't posted anything since Thursday. I checked out the Technique Lover's Challenge, and it's a triangle box. I might make that later. I went over to Beate's blog and found the Weekend Sketch Challenge (shown at right) and decided to do that.

The base card is GP White and is embossed with one of the Cuttlebug Borders Embossing Folders and scored above that. The designer paper was die cut on the Big Shot with the Scallop Circle Die (available from the Holiday Mini Catalog). I used rectangle and scalloped rectangle Nestabilities on the main image panel and scalloped mat. I stamped the sentiment and punched it out with the 1-1/4" Circle Punch. I matted that on Brushed Silver punched with the 1-3/8" Circle Punch. Finally, I punched GP White with the Scallop Circle Punch for the final mat. Thanks for visiting my blog today!

Nature (SC201, WT191)

First of all, the photo at left shows the layout for yesterday's Sketch Challenge. I had a busy day yesterday and just didn't get around to it, so I thought I'd combine challenges and use the sketch with today's Ways To Use It Challenge which was to use our corner punches.

I like the sketch but somehow I managed to get 8 layers on top of that base card! I think I do that with every masculine card I make! I wonder why. Anyway, the base card is Naturals White with a layer of white on a black mat. Then, there's Soft Sky on a black mat. This panel is paper pierced. Next, there's River Rock on a black mat with the sentiment stamped in black ink. The main image was stamped with black on white and matted on black after punching with the Stair Step Corner Punch. Eek! & Anna (SBSC163)

At left is the Scrap Book Sketch Challenge #163 layout. My left side layout is very similar to the sketch. My right side is somewhat similar except I used only three photos and tilted my center photo to the left instead of to the right. I love these sketches because they really do give me a good start on a page!

I just had to do some scrap booking because I still had these photos in my camera! We went to my son and daughter-in-law's on Halloween. Of course we brought our youngest son, Eddie, so he could go trick-or-treating with Calvin, my step-grandson. They are almost the same age!

The left page shows Eddie in his Ghost Pirate costume at top left, both boys are in the middle, and Calvin, the Monster Football Player is at the bottom. Boys their age (13) just seem to love ugly masks for their Halloween costumes! The title of the page is, "Eek!" because they are scary monsters. The journaling goes down the orange designer paper strip, next to the stamped spiders. Those black spiders are foam stickers I got at the dollar store.

The right side page is my grand-daughter, Anna. She's 3. At lower right is her daddy, my oldest son. I used the same wheel on this page to tie the two pages together and to use the design in the sketch, but instead of foam spiders, I used foam pumpkin stickers which go with her trick-or-treat pumpkin. Everyone had fun, and my son barbecued an excellent dinner!

I didn't do the Sunday Featured Stamper Challenge because we went to church and came home and watched football. Yesterday was a busy day for me as well. Actually, I really wasn't home very much with some errands to do and doctor appointments to go to plus physical therapy. By the time I got home I was just too tired and it was really too late by the time we ate dinner. For someone hobbling around on crutches, I'm doing a lot lately! I voted today! Did you? Anyway, the Color Challenge today was to use Pretty In Pink, Kiwi Kiss, and Riding Hood Red. The base card here is Riding Hood Red with a layer of Shimmery White that has been embossed with the Cuttlebug Floral Screen embossing folder on the Big Shot Machine. The ribbon is Pretty in Pink Taffeta. I used two sizes of rectangle and two sizes of scalloped rectangle Nestabilities on this. I popped up the white on pink panels and then popped up the kiwi on red panels as well. The image was stamped with Stazon Jet Black and colored with a Blender Pen with ink pads. Moonrise (IC152)

Today's Inspiration Challenge was to choose a piece of artwork by Don Li-Leger which our hostess found on Art.com. I chose the print shown at the right. It's called Lakeside Moonrise. It was shown both as a print and as a wall hanging.

I sponged with several different colors and reversed masked the moon with a 1-3/8" punched circle. I stamped over that three times with the image from "Embrace Life." I colored in the leaves with a marker. The artist puts little squares on almost all of his pieces, so I added the square brad. I embossed the base card with the Cuttlebug Tiny Mosaics embossing folder to carry the square idea to the rest of the card. It looked so sad when I finished my main image that I just had to add the sheer ribbon to perk it up a bit and maybe feminize it too. Thanks for stopping by!

I saw a card online that was a CASE of Sharon's (notimetostamp) example card for her Stamp Simply Challenge #51. I liked that card so much that I CASEd it, too! Sharon's lovely card can be found here. I think the white on white looks so elegant! The berry branch is from "A Cardinal Christmas." I colored the stamp with markers, huffed, and stamped. Then, I touched it up a bit with the markers.

The photo at the right shows the layout for Beate's Weekend Sketch Challenge. Funny, I haven't done the Limited Supplies Challenge on SCS today, but I've done two of my online friends' blog challenges! Whatever suits your fancy, I guess.

I wanted mine to be very feminine, so I used the Martha Stewart Doily Lace Border Punch for my scallops at the top and bottom. Then, I went with shades of pink. The base card is Pink Pirouette. The designer paper is pink on pink polka dots from the Georgia Peach DSP; it's matted on Pixie Pink. The ribbon is Pretty In Pink Taffeta Ribbon. I stamped the butterfly with Pixie Pink on white twice, punched one out with the 1-3/8" Circle Punch, and I cut out the other, minus the antenna. I was going to put a sentiment panel on this, possibly made with ovals, but I decided to leave it alone and put a sentiment inside when I use the card. Thanks again for visiting today!

Thanksgiving Button Flower (ssnotime59)

Sharon's (aka notimetostamp) Stamp Simply Challenge is called "Button Up For Winter". We were to make a fall themed card and incorporate a button in the design. My button is the flower center. The base card is Old Olive with a layer of plaid designer paper from DCWV. The paper is stitched on using the zig-zag stitch on my sewing machine. I used rectangle and scalloped rectangle Nestabilities to make the main image panel and mat. The Naturals Ivory piece is sewn on the More Mustard scalloped piece using the same zig-zag stitch as before. The scarecrow is stamped with Stazon Jet Black and water colored. I used the sewing machine to sew the orange button to the flower, and I added orange and mustard branches punched with the Martha Stewart Punch. Cracked Journey (WT190)

For the Ways To Use It Challenge, we were to get crackle in our designs. I used the Cracked Glass Technique. I've never done it before, but it's really easy. First, you stamp your image on card stock. Next, you ink the entire panel with Versamark. Then, you sprinkle liberally with Glassy Glaze embossing powder and melt with the heat tool. Ink it again with Versamark and emboss a second time with the Glassy Glaze, and it will come out smooth and shiny. Put it in the freezer for a couple of minutes. After it's completely cooled, take it out of the freezer and bend it in several places to make the cracks. Sponge the cracks so they will show more and rub off excess ink with a paper towel. If it becomes dull, just heat it up with the heat tool one more time, and the shine will come right back. I kept the card pretty simple to highlight the image and the cracked glass technique. Party! (SC200)

The layout at the right is today's Sketch Challenge layout. I wound up making a card that was very similar to the one I made for the Color Challenge yesterday. I used the same stamp set and only changed from Pixie Pink to Tempting Turquoise. I guess the ribbon really determined the color combo. It has yellow, hot pink, orange, turquoise, lime green, and chocolate brown. I think I got that ribbon as a gift. There's six rolls in the package, but each roll only has 12 inches of ribbon on it! It took a whole roll to do the strip and the bow!!!

The base card is Kiwi Kiss. The top panel is Tangerine Tango embossed with Spots n' Dots. The bottom panel is Tempting Turquoise embossed with Traffic Jam. I used ink pads and Blender Pen to color that stamp and huffed before stamping. I used several punches on this one as well. Thanks for stopping by today!!!

"B" Is For Birthday (CC190)

Today's Color Challenge was to use Pixie Pink, Tangerine Tango, and Kiwi Kiss. I can't remember why, but I had several pieces of Pixie Pink that were already embossed, so I started with that. The base card is Tangerine Tango with a layer of Kiwi Kiss and then the embossed Pixie Pink panel. I stamped the hats with Tangerine and cut them out and adhered them to 1" punched circles matted on 1-1/4" punched circles. The main image is stamped with pink and matted on the Kiwi and then the Tangerine. The satin ribbon and knot were added to the embossed panel before adhering to the mat. I finished it off by doing some "Faith Dots". I call them that because one lady on SCS whose name is Faith does them all the time. Thanks for stopping by today!
