Convention Card by Sandi MacIver

Sandi MacIver is one of the ladies in a Yahoo Group that I belong to, Late Night Stampers. She has lots of photos and information on her blog about the recent Stampin' Up! convention in Salt Lake City. She was one of the instructors at convention, and they made this wonderful scallop circle Thank You card. She was kind enough to include a pdf file on her blog so that those of use who could not go to convention this year could make it, too.

Beneath that, you will find a link to a pdf file with all the instructions. I used Very Vanilla card stock for everything. I embossed the sentiment from "Short & Sweet" with Gold Embossing powder to match the gold brads. I also used tiny gold half pearls in the flower centers. She used butterflies on her card, but I don't have that Embosslit (YET), so I used the Flower Trio Punch and made my embossed flowers instead. The Large Scallop Circle Die and the Scallop Circles #2 Die were used along with the Word Window Punch and the Modern Label Punch as well. The Impressions Folder used here is Petals-a-Plenty.

This is the inside of the card. The Elegant Bouquet Impressions Folder was used here as well as the "Thanks" Embosslit. Of course, the Flower Trio Punch was used for all the little embossed flowers. Gray Floral (CCEE1030)

This is for the CCEE Stampers Challenge which is a sketch with a twist, and that twist is to use flowers. The designer series paper (DSP) is a floral print, I used a Cuttlebug Border embossing folder on the woven strips, and I punched and embossed the white flowers and added silver pearls to the centers. Every now and then, I get the urge to use grays. This is one of those times! The base card is Basic Gray, the woven strips are Going Gray, and the DSP is shades of gray with white. July 2010 Stamp Camp

This Stamp Camp is all about punches. I used Stampin' Up Punches on every card...tons of them! You'll see...
This first project was made using the new XL Owl Punch, XL Scallop Circle Punch, Regular Scallop Circle Punch, 1-3/8" Circle Punch, and 1-1/4" Circle Punch. I also used Satin Ribbon, the Big Shot and the Square Lattice Impressions Folder. This is just about the easiest card of the bunch!

The second project is a CASE of a CASE. I love how ctorina on SCS used the Lattice Punch to make this such a delicate card. Her card is here. I used the same Martha Stewart Punch for the lattice at the top and bottom. I used the retired Spring Bouquet Flower Punch from Stampin' Up! and the new Itty Bitty Shapes (Punch Pack) for the tiny flowers. The card stock is Naturals White and Blushing Bride with Whisper White and Certainly Celery for the flowers.

Our third project features this punch art fire hydrant designed by Kim Score. She even has instructions on her blog here. The dog is from "D is for Dog" and the sentiment is from the retired "One of a Kind" set. I love this fire hydrant though!!

For our fourth project, I used another design by Kim Score. You can find her card here along with a list of punches used and instructions for how to assemble the Silly Bird. Isn't this just the cutest??!!! I thought the sentiment from "Smarty Pants" really suited this little guy!! LOL!

Our last project is the most time consuming of them all. I've already punched everything though. My ladies will just have to sponge, do a tiny bit of trimming and assemble the dog. Theirs won't have the bone on the card. I made this card for the Twisted Sisters TSC0730 challenge and decided to use it for the Stamp Camp. Our challenge was to have a dog on the card AND a bone (as in "Give a dog a bone!"). This is yet another Kim Score design. She made it for a punch art blog hop. CASEing Toni (FS181)

This week's Featured Stamper is ravengirl. Toni is a very talented stamper and has many clean and simple (CAS) cards in her gallery. In fact, we recently used one of her sketches for the Clean & Simple Challenge. I chose to CASE this card. I changed the layout because her card was a sketch challenge card. I used White Embossing Powder on Crumb Cake (formerly Kraft) instead of Gold EP on White. I used Crumb Cake instead of Soft Suede, and I rounded all the corners. I used pearls for embellishments in the lower left corner of the main image panel instead of stamped snowflakes. I used the same stamp, designer series paper and ribbon, though. From the Land Down Under (IC242)

Novica.com was the inspiration site for this week's inspiration challenge. I was inspired by this silver gecko. It made me think of this set that I got from a friend in Australia. I sent her a couple of punches that she didn't have in her catalog, and she sent me the "All Aboriginal" set. That set has a snake, a kangaroo and this gecko stamp. They are fun to color. The embossed background pieces were just scraps that were laying on my craft table. Actually, they are debossed with the Mesh folder. I used Curvey Rectangle Nestabilities for the main panel and mat. Two for Christmas (CCEE1029, TSC0723)

This first card is for the CCEE Stampers challenge which is a "Christmas in July" sketch. The base card is Garden Green with strips of designer paper, and it's embossed with Holly Ribbons Cuttlebug embossing folder. There's narrow satin ribbon in between the strips, one has a bow. The medallion was punched from Very Vanilla and Real Red using the 1-3/4" Circle and 2-3/8" Scallop Circle Punches. The stamp from "Holiday Best" (retired) was colored with Markers.

This card is for the Twisted Sistahs' Challenge which was also "Christmas in July". Now I have a head start on my Christmas cards! This one is Bashful Blue, Whisper White and retired SU! DSP. I used a Scallop Square Nestie on the DSP and a Labels Nestie behind the punched ornament (Delightful Decorations stamp set and Ornament Punch). The sentiment was embossed with Silver Embossing Powder and there's a silver cord on the ornament. Thanks again for stopping by!!

More Embossed Flowers (SC290)

Would you believe it? I made this card yesterday morning for the Sketch Challenge, but I had to leave to go shopping, and when I got back, I totally forgot about posting it!! Am I losing it, or what? Anyway, I really liked the idea of the staggered squares in the sketch. I started out by stamping an image and doing the "Out of the box" technique, but that wasn't working for me. Maybe I was just in too big of a hurry. I decided to go with my old stand-by: embossed flowers. The base card is So Saffron, all matting is Basic Black, the patterned paper is Tea Party DSP, the Certainly Celery layer was embossed with the Cuttlebug Forest Branches folder, the squares are Pretty In Pink, So Saffron and More Mustard and so are the flowers. The flowers are embossed and I added tiny pearls to the centers. The sentiment is from "Tiny Tags", and I used the coordinating Tiny Tags Punch. The ribbon is retired Pink Gingham Ribbon. Hearts a Plenty (CC280, MMTPT103)

This is for two challenges since I don't have much time to stamp today. First, the Color Challenge was to use Regal Rose, Peach Parfait and Old Olive with a neutral. The optional dessert was to pop up something. I popped up the die cut and embossed heart. This is also for Mothermark's Teapot Tuesday Challenge which was to bring lots of hearts to the tea party. I used Martha Stewart's Heart Border Punch and Stampin' Up!'s Hearts and Brackets Sizzix Die. On the inside, I adhered some punched hearts in clusters at the upper left and lower right. I also used the border punch on the inside. Everything except for the border punch came from Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by!!

Today's Clean & Simple Challenge was to follow this sketch by ravengirl (Toni). I decided to make my card a masculine card. Circle Birthday (IC241)

Today's Inspiration Challenge was to go to Georgie Love's site to get inspiration. I was inspired by this lamp. Talk about a simple card!! I used a Certainly Celery base card; then, I adhered a layer of embossed card stock from DCWV Nana's Kids card stock pack. I added Certainly Celery Satin Ribbon and stamped the sentiment from "Perfect Punches" in Poppy Parade (new In-Color) on Whisper White; then, I punched it out with the Wide Oval Punch and popped it up with a Dimensional. That's it! Everything is from Stampin' Up! except for the embossed card stock. Thanks again for stopping by!!

Thanks Kokirose! (C4C46)

This is for the Crazy 4 Challenges challenge to use buttons on our cards. Those are not yellow buttons. Stampin' Up! has a little punch set (set of 3) Itty Bitty Shapes which coordinate with the Itty Bitty Shapes Buttons. I punched out the flowers with one of the little punches and then layered the corresponding button over it before adhering to the card. The image was a gift for my birthday from Kokirose (Patricia Rose). Wasn't that sweet of her?!!!! I water colored the image and then die cut with Curved Rectangles Nestabilities. I traced the Nestie on the yellow and cut it out for a narrower mat. The base card is Pear Pizazz, a new In-Color. Everything is from Stampin' Up! except for the die and the stamped image. Christmas in July (F4A21)

Today's Free For All Challenge was to do Christmas in July with a twist. The twist is to use snowflakes and pearls. I embossed Whisper White with the Cuttlebug Snowflakes embossing folder and adhered that to a Naturals White base card after adding sheer silver ribbon. I added silver pearls in some of the snowflake centers. I heat embossed the medallion from "Perfect Punches" with Silver Embossing Powder and punched it out with the Scallop Circle Punch. This is a very simple card to make. Everything except the ribbon, embossing folder and pearls came from Stampin' Up! Thanks again for stopping by!!

Scalloped Fruit (TSC0716)

This week's Twisted Sistahs' Challenge was to have fruit on our cards plus scallops. I used the new "Studio Sketches" set and colored with Markers and a Blender Pen. I used square Nestabilities for the main image panel and scalloped mat and used the Scallop Border Punch on the Wild Wasabi Prints Designer Series Paper. I stamped the flourish from "Elements of Style" with Wild Wasabi ink on Whisper White. I think I like Wild Wasabi more now than I did when it was an In-Color!! Chalked Flowers (WT279)

The Ways To Use It Challenge for THIS week is to "Chalk it Up." We are to get out that dusty container of chalks and actually use them! My main image is from "Water Color Trio" (Summer Mini) and is stamped with Whisper White and then chalked. I stamped the leaves from the same set in the same manner for a little background. All products used to make this card are from Stampin' Up! I used Blushing Bride (In-Color), Wild Wasabi, Basic Black and Whisper White card stock. Wonderful (CCEE1028, WT278)

Today's CCEE Stampers challenge is a sketch with a twist. The twist is to make it a monochromatic color scheme. Now, the DCWV Mat Pack card stock that I used for the background is much more yellow than this photo shows. I guess I have a camera that likes to pick up the orange. At the time I made this card, the Ways To Use It Challenge on SCS was not yet posted, so I went with last week's challenge which was to use yellow. I didn't do that challenge last week because I was on vacation. Everything except for the patterned card stock is from Stampin' Up! I used More Mustard, So Saffron and Very Vanilla to compliment the patterned card stock. The inside sentiment says, "...grand daughter" and "Happy Birthday". T-Slide Card

In the Weekly Inkling that I get every Wednesday from SplitCoastStampers, there was a tutorial for making the T-Slide Card, so I just had to try it. I'll have to make a couple of them so that I can be good at explaining how to make them; then, I can include these as a Club Project.

You're A Hoot! (SC289)

This is for today's sketch challenge on SCS. I used some designer series paper scraps for this as well as my new 2-Step Owl Punch. The base card and mat are Wild Wasabi. The Very Vanilla Panel was embossed using one of Stampin' Up!'s Texturz Plates (Eyelet) which actually matches one of the patterns in the old Prints Pack of DSP. That DSP panel is Wild Wasabi (scrap). The horizontal strip is a scrap of River Rock and so is the punched owl. That plaid ribbon is old but was never opened. The owl's vest is Pawsitively Prints DSP (scrap). I used "Fresh Cuts" for the branch and "Owl Together Now" for the sentiment. Everything except the ribbon and pearls is from Stampin' Up! Back from vacation and back to work! I will be posting one more photo from our vacation as soon as I can scan it. In the meantime, I did today's Color Challenge on SCS which was to use Wild Wasabi, Cherry Cobbler and Marina Mist with a neutral (mine is Whisper White). The base is Marina Mist which was embossed in the lower right with Elegant Bouquet Impressions Folder from Stampin' Up! The main panel is Whisper White cut with a Spellbinders die. The embossed flowers are Cherry Cobbler, and the punched leaves are Wild Wasabi Textured Card Stock that I had left over from when Wild Wasabi was an In-Color. I added tiny pearls to the flower centers and a bow made of sheer ribbon that looks just like our new Cherry Cobbler. Everything is from Stampin' Up! except for the die, ribbon and pearls. Another Vacation Update

Well, we got Internet again tonight. My daughter and son went to Downtown Disney, but I brought my mom to our room so she could rest and so could I. We went to the zoo today, and I'm so tired, I just wanted to be in our air conditioned room!

The photo above shows my daughter on son on a ride at Epcot Thursday. Our stay there ended with my son and I going on the "Soarin'" ride. It's just like riding on a hang glider. You get to see a lot of California from the air. It felt so real that I held on to the handles very tightly!

This next photo (above) shows hula dancers at the Polynesian Dinner Show that we went to last night. The food was great and the entertainment was fantastic!!

Today, we went to Disney's Animal Kingdom. It's a zoo, but they have shows there, too. We saw the Lion King Show today. Timone was the M.C. The costumes were colorful, and the singing and dancing was great. We had a great time. I will be back home on Monday night and back online on Tuesday.

Vacation Update

We got to Orlando Tuesday night and met my daughter at the hotel. She made reservations for dinner at a restaurant at the hotel. We had time to chat and catch up on things. We had a wonderful meal and could see the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom right there from our table while we were eating!

Yesterday, we went to Disney's Hollywood Studios Park. We spent the whole day there. One of the attractions we saw there was a live presentation of "Beauty and the Beast." We got to sit in the first row, and it was a fabulous show.


The photo above shows the beast with the clock, candlestick, teapot and tea cup characters. It was taken right from my seat without any telephoto enhancement. We really enjoyed the show.

We had made reservations for dinner right there in the park. We had no idea what the restaurant would be like. It was the most unique restaurant I've ever seen. It was made to look like a drive-in theater. All the tables were in old cars that were all facing a big screen. The photo above was taken by our waitress who was absolutely awesome. She even got several people to sign a birthday card for my mom to celebrate her 95 years! My daughter and mom are in the "front seat" and I'm in the "backseat" with my son. While we ate, old movie trailers and snack bar ads were shown on the big screen. The food was really good, too. Our waitress packed up our desserts so we could bring them to our room. By the way, I had forgotten what a REAL cherry coke tastes like. It was yummy!!!

Vacation Time!!!

I won't be posting cards for a while. We're leaving tomorrow morning to go to the airport to catch our flight to Florida. We're going to Disney World! I'll post to my blog once or twice while on the trip, but there will be no cards. Maybe I'll upload a photo or two!! I'll be back to normal blogging and card making on July 14th!! CAS Wedding (CAS74)

Today's Clean & Simple Challenge is an inspiration challenge. We were to go to Carrie's Cakes for our inspiration. The whole idea was to make a card for a celebration. I liked the wedding cake, especially the 2nd layer, so I looked no further. The base card here is Blushing Bride with an embossed layer of Whisper White. I added Certainly Celery 5/8" grosgrain ribbon and Pretty In Pink 1/4" grosgrain ribbon plus the punched sentiment done with "Perfect Punches" in Basic Black and popped up with Dimensionals. This week's Twisted Sistah's Challenge was presented by Brat Cards. Terri offered two photos from a Better Homes and Gardens Magazine. One was a vase with roses, and the other was a yellow and black bathroom. Obviously, I chose to be inspired by the bathroom. The yellow here is the new Daffodil Delight. Sweet Celebration (SC287, WT277)

This is for yesterday's Sketch Challenge and today's Ways To Use It Challenge. For the Ways To Use It Challenge, we were to make a card celebrating Independence Day without using red or blue. After our community's annual 4th of July parade, our church will be manning a booth where we will give away water bottles and snow cones for the kids. That's our way of celebrating Independence Day while performing a service to our community. This ice cream cone reminds me of the snow cones the kids will be getting. I used the "Sweet Scoops" set from the Summer Mini Catalog. The designer series paper is Tea Party (retired), and the main image is popped up using recycled foam.
