Buzzin' Bees (WT216, Mojo84)

I'm so far behind on the challenges!!! This card is for the Ways To Use It Challenge which was to use Basic Black and for the Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge (a few days late!). I thought the "Just Buzzin' By" set would look good in yellow and black, so I started with a So Saffron base card and added patterned paper that is mainly So Saffron and matted it in Basic Black. Everything was stamped with Basic Black ink, and I water colored the bees and the hive. Instead of ribbon, I used a strip of Basic Black for the horizontal piece, but I crimped it. Instead of brads, I punched three 1/4" circles for the little embellishments. The ribbon (bow) is 1/4" Basic Black grosgrain ribbon. The medallion was made with Whisper White, the patterned paper, and Basic Black. Those pieces were punched with the circle punches and scallop circle punch. Joy (SC226)

This is my interpretation of today's Sketch Challenge on SCS. I made the main horizontal and vertical panels shorter and matted them.

The original layout for the sketch is shown at the right. I'm either fighting a cold or allergies this morning, so this one was a bit complicated for me. I'm hoping it's just allergies! Anyway, the base card here is Certainly Celery with a panel of Whisper White that was stamped with "Sprinkles". Next, there's a vertical panel of "Delicate Dots" DSP matted on Celery. Next, there's a horizontal panel which is also "Delicate Dots", but just a different paper, and it's matted on Celery as well. On the main image panel, I stamped a sentiment from "Wonderful Watercolors" using Always Artichoke ink. I used the 1-3/4" Circle Punch to punch out the circle of "Delicate Dots" paper and matted that on Whisper White that was cut using Scallop Circle Nestabilities. Clean & Simple With Ribbon Flag (CAS12)

The Clean & Simple Challenge this week was to use "Little Bits of Ribbon." I went to my container of ribbon scraps and found a few inches from the end of a spool of Real Red Striped Grosgrain Ribbon. I only used about half of the scrap, so I have enough to make another one of these "ribbon flags." This card is VERY simple, too. The Whisper White base card it scored twice at the bottom with the sentiment stamped in between. The main image is stamped with Brilliant Blue on Whisper White and matted on Real Red (scalloped). I added the ribbon flag to the back and used Dimensionals to adhere the main image panel to the card. That's it! Pink! (FS116)

Today's Featured Stamper is "WATTLE". I don't know her and am not familiar with her work, but I sure was glad to peruse her gallery! What exquisite workmanship! I really had a hard time choosing a card to CASE.

I finally decided on the card shown at the right. It took me a while to put my card together! I had no idea what the dimensions of the squares were. I think I got them pretty close though. I changed the colors from blue to pink, changed the patterned paper, and I left off the sentiment so I can add something later. I might not want this to be a birthday card. I might want it to be a "Thinking of You" or "Just a Note" instead. Oh, and I used a different border punch. Other than that, I think the two cards are very much alike. April Stamp Camp

Project #1 will be this flower pot pull-out card. I just saw one the other day on SCS and just had to make one. Then, I decided to include it as a stamp camp project.

This photo shows the slider pulled out. I made this one a birthday card, but it could be used for many other occasions. The instructions said to use patterned paper on the bottom of the pot, but I made mine out of Really Rust and just sponged it with Close to Cocoa. My flowers were cut with the Cricut Machine out of the 6" X 6" Prints Pack designer papers (Level 1 Hostess). This was a Technique Lover's Challenge a couple of weeks ago so there are a lot of these online.

Project #2 is a bit more simple. It's masculine, and I stamped "Happy Father's Day" inside which is lined with white. I just stamped the images from "Nature Silhouettes" on Naturals Ivory and distressed the panel. I matted it on Chocolate Chip and adhered it to an Almost Artichoke base card. I paper pierced in the upper right and lower left corners. It seems like I always use distressing when I make masculine cards!

Project #3 was posted earlier. It was for SC225, but I liked it so I used it for a stamp camp project.

Project #4 is basically a CASE of Mary Fish's Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge card. I loved the color combo! Hers has patterned paper matted with the blue and the main image was tilted. Hers is also a square card. I also liked all the scallops! It makes a great summer card!

Project #5 is my favorite! I pretty much CASEd this one from a magazine. The one in the magazine had a sentiment inside, but there was a framed cut-out on the front so you could see the sentiment. I just loved the picket fence idea! There's 2 strips, 1/4" wide, going horizontally for the rails and the pickets are 2-1/4" (X 3) and 2" (X 2). I used the "Little Leaves" Sizzlit for the "bushes" and the Flower Trio Punch for the flowers. The flowers are embossed and have white centers done with the White Gel Pen. You can't see it, but the Delicate Dots paper is torn at the bottom and curled up, but it's behind the fence. The butterfly was punched with the MS Butterfly punch. Thanks for stopping by!!

I liked this sketch so much that I think I might use it for my stamp camp this weekend!I really like the idea of the four panels with patterned paper on them. Of course, you don't have to use patterned paper. You could use four panels that are embossed instead. Anyway, for this card, I started with a Naturals White base card. All the panels, including the main image, are matted on Sahara Sand. The patterned paper is "Delicate Dots", 2009 Sale-A-Bration DSP. The main image was stamped with Sahara Sand, and the flowers were colored with a Barely Banana Marker. The sentiment, also stamped with Sahara Sand, is from "Fundamental Phrases." Cleaning? (SBSC184)

This is Sally's layout for Scrap Booking Sketch Challenge #184. For my first page, I followed it almost exactly.

I came home from Bible Study the other day (in the middle of Spring Break) and found my son washing all the collection of green and clear glass items that sit atop my kitchen cabinets. They really do get dusty up there! He did this on his own without my even asking! I thought it was so sweet that I grabbed my camera to "Capture the moment!"

My layout for page 2 is inspired by the same sketch, but I used the leftover patterned paper and just pieced it together to form a square. I also used strips on the left the whole length of the page, and I added a little note card envelope to hold the journaling. I sponged the envelope and added a die cut (Scribbles Swirls). I printed the journaling using SU!'s Harry Paul font and blue ink. I used dew drops on both pages to look like bubbles and I stamped using "Doodle This." Thanks for stopping by today!!!

I was gone all day Wednesday and missed doing the Sketch Challenge again. This card is for yesterday's Ways To Use It Challenge, and I made the card yesterday morning but didn't upload it until now because I was going to add more "stuff" to the card. I thought of adding tabs, a sentiment panel, brads, pearls, or a bow, but I decided to just leave it alone. With that striped paper behind the main image, doesn't it look like a picture on the wall with wallpaper behind it? This is a really simple card which could be used for a sympathy, birthday, or just a note card, depending on the sentiment inside. The designer paper is from the 2008 Fall/Winter Catalog and it is from a Level 3 Hostess Bundle. The flowers are from the "Echoes of Kindness" Level 2 Hostess Set (current). The base card here is Bordering Blue; then, there's a layer of Pink Pirouette. The Tea Party designer paper is mainly So Saffron. I used some Chocolate Chip on the girl's basket and the cat's stripes when I was water coloring. The House Mouse Monday Challenge was to make a card or project with something sweet on it. It could be part of the image or sentiment or even part of a project like a basket full of candy. I used Chocolate Chip for the base card. That ought to cover it right there! LOL! The next layer is Ruby Red which I paper pierced in the right hand corners. The main image was water colored, cut out, and popped up on Very Vanilla which was matted on a Summer Sun scallop rectangle. The inside is lined with white and just says, "Enjoy!" I'm sorry I don't know the name of the stamp or the year. I borrowed some stamps and stamped off a lot of images but didn't write any names down. Doh! Thanks again for stopping by! You should go to the Mojo Monday Blog and see this week's layout for the Sketch Challenge. I actually missed last week's sketch! How could that happen?!!! I missed several days of postings because of being so busy, so I guess that's what happened to cause me to miss a Mojo sketch. For this card, I used Almost Amethyst for the base card with a layer of Tea Party Designer Paper. Both layers, card front and designer paper, are punched with the Scallop Edge Border Punch. The ribbon is Ribbon Originals - Dress Up, and the butterfly sticker came from the $1 Store. I stamped the flower three times, colored each part that I was going to use with SU! Markers, and popped up every layer. I also popped up the sentiment panel. I lined the inside with white and added a strip of the designer paper at the bottom after punching the bottoms of both layers with the Scallop Edge Border Punch. I also added a strip of the designer paper to the envelope. You can see part of it in this photo. Everything except for the butterfly sticker came from Stampin' Up! Blue Butterfly (WSC76)

I'm Sorry I didn't post yesterday, but I was busy doing other things with my son getting ready for Easter. He's 14, but we still colored eggs and he got an Easter basket this morning with a soccer ball, football, and basket ball, along with candy, of course! Anyway, this card is for this week's Weekend Sketch Challenge which was hosted by Laurie Schmidlin. If you want to see the original layout for the sketch, go to her blog, "Just Give Me Stamps." I used Naturals White for the base card, and the designer paper is "Delicate Dots" which was this year's Sale-A-Bration freebie. I had the piece of Whisper White which was already embossed with the Backgrounds #1 Texturz Plate. I just cut it down to the right size for the sketch. Instead of another piece of paper, I used the Bashful Blue Wide Double Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon. I matted a scrap of Naturals White on Bashful Blue and then stamped the sentiment with Not Quite Navy. The circles were cut out with Nestabilities. The leaves were made with the "Sweetest Stem" Embosslit (I love those things!). The flowers were punched with the Flower Trio Punch and embossed (I do that a lot!). The butterfly is a Scrapbook Sticker from Dollar Tree. They come seven in a package and are different sizes; this one is one of the smaller ones. Post-It Holder

They had a tutorial in the Weekly Inkling that showed how to make these Post-It Holders. I think I might have my next club make these. I did some 2-Step Stamping using the Stamp-a-ma-jig. I cut out the flower and leaves and adhered them so they'd lie flat in case this might be carried in a purse.

The photo above shows the holder when it's open so you can see the inside. This might make a cute little Mother's Day gift. I didn't have the little pencils, so I cut a regular pencil in half and sharpened it until it fit. I'll have to see where I can find the right size pencils though. Thanks for stopping by!

Green Hostess Gift

By "Green" Hostess Gift, I didn't mean the color of the contents, although these bath salts were tinted green! What I meant was that it's green as in "Reduce, Reuse, Recycle". I reused or recycled the frappuccino bottle by making a hostess gift out of it. This one is filled with homemade bath salts. Here's the recipe:

In a large glass or metal bowl, stir together:

2 cups Epsom Salts OR Sea Salt (You can also use one cup of each) Do NOT use table salt as it will dry the skin!

1 – 2 teaspoons of baking soda (optional, but it makes the skin soft)

10 – 12 drops of essential oil (You can use Eucalyptus, Vanilla, Lavender, etc. and they’re available at craft stores)

Add a few drops of water based food coloring, a drop or two at a time while stirring

The more you stir, the more the scent of the essential oils comes through. This one is Eucalyptus. Stir at least 2 minutes. These bath salts were tinted green, as I said before. Instead of painting the lid, which I normally do, I added Kiwi Kiss Satin Ribbon, a Scallop Circle Punched circle, layered flowers, and a Rhinestone Brad. I also made the tag with a Sizzix die, and I stamped it and sponged it. Finally, I used Rub-ons from a retired Level 3 Hostess Bundle to add, "Enjoy" to the bottle.

Right when I started adding my "Green" Hostess Gift to this post, I decided to use some Easter colored M&M's and decorate another bottle for my Secret Sister for Easter. This one is basically the same as the other one except for the colors, and, instead of Rub-ons, I used a sticker that I stamped with the "Happy Easter" sentiment. Both tags have sentiments on them from the "Yummy" 2009 Sale-A-Bration set. That promotion is over, so the set is no longer available. Thanks for visiting my blog today!!!

Wow! These long cards are hard to photograph! Maybe that's why I hardly every make them. This week's Weekend Sketch Challenge was hosted by Mary Jo Albright.

Her layout is shown at the right or you could go directly to her blog. My card stock was cut to 8" X 8-1/2" and folded in half to 4" wide by 8-1/2" long. The embellishment in the upper right was made using the Scallop Circle Punch, Sweetest Stem Embosslit, and Flower Trio Punch. The inside is lined with white with a strip of the Designer Paper at the bottom. The card is on top of the envelope which also has a strip of the Designer Paper along the left edge. I didn't have time yesterday to do the Thursday Sketch Challenge from Stamps and Smiles because I was busy getting ready for last night's club. I'm back! I got to use another one of the stamp sets I won from Stamps and Smiles for this one! This one is called, "Mama Bunny Loves Me." Everything on this card is from Stampin' Up! EXCEPT the images and the border punch I used. I cut out the eggs and the baby bunny and popped up the eggs. I also popped up the sentiment panel. The images were colored with SU! Markers. April Thursday Niters' Projects

For my Thursday Niters' Club, we will be doing three projects tonight. The first two are pretty quick. The first one is refrigerator magnets. You use white card stock, stamp an image and color if necessary. Punch out the image with the 1-1/4" Circle Punch, and glue to a magnet piece. Glue the clear glass pebble over the image. The image should be fairly dark, and it's really best if the pebble is clear, but these were all I could find in the size I wanted.

The next project is the Matchbox Die cut boxes. It's going to be fast because I have already cut out everything. All the club members have to do is fold and glue. These each have four different flavors of nuggets in them wrapped with the same paper as the covers. I should have left one open, but you get the idea. Besides, it's the same as I did for the "Make a Wish" project for the Monday House Mouse Challenge which is in an earlier post.

The final project is this birthday card. They will have choices of colors, but all the insides will be polka dot paper in coordinating colors.

I've shown the inside since it's a gift card holder, too! This project is being done by request of one of my ladies in tonight's club. The outside has an embossed layer done with the Happy Birthday embossing folder. The cupcake stamp is colored with markers, stamped, the image cut out, and then popped up on the white oval. Today's Sketch Challenge was a layout with two pieces of patterned paper and a tilted main image panel. I was inspired to make this ROMANTIC card, LOL! I got this image from an online friend.
